FPT opens R&D center on high technology and semiconductor chips of nearly 3,000m2 at software park No. 2

Attending the event were Party Central Committee member, City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang; Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son; Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh.

The establishment of the R&D Center is one of the steps to concretize the commitment of the comprehensive cooperation program between FPT Corporation and the City Department of Science and Technology announced in January 2025.

Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate in investing in research, technology development and resources in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries. FPT is also the first technology unit to operate at Da Nang Software Park No. 2, which is expected to become an important core in the city's new technology ecosystem.

FPT General Director Nguyen Van Khoa expressed: “We are proud to be a technology enterprise that has been accompanying Da Nang for more than 20 years - a livable city with great potential for technology development in Vietnam and the region. In the past 5 years, FPT has strongly promoted the strategy of developing new technology products such as semiconductor chips and AI.”

With the strategic vision and effective attraction policies of the city's leaders, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa affirmed that Da Nang has full potential to become the leading high-tech innovation center in Vietnam and the region. "FPT commits to accompany, contribute resources, team of experts, advanced methodologies and technological solutions to help Da Nang realize the goal in the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW", said Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said: "Implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Da Nang identifies the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as the top important breakthrough, the main driving force in socio-economic development. Along with that, the National Assembly's promulgation of Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on piloting a special mechanism for Da Nang development to promote Da Nang to become a modern special economic zone, making an important contribution to the overall development of the country, opening up a broad vision, creating momentum for the city's strong transformation in the new era".

Da Nang aims to have the digital economy contribute 35-40% of the city's GRDP by 2030; Other indicators such as Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation develop steadily; Da Nang City will be one of the digital technology and innovation industrial centers of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

In particular, artificial intelligence and semiconductors are one of the strategic spearheads, the key for Da Nang to open the door to the future. The goal by 2030 is that the city will have at least 5,000 talented engineers in the field of microchips and semiconductors, including 2,000 design engineers and 3,000 packaging and testing engineers and technicians. Da Nang is making great efforts to implement programs to support research, technology development, human resource training, and build specific policies to attract domestic and foreign technology enterprises.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh hopes that the opening of the FPT High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center, the first to be put into operation at Software Park No. 2, will continue to create a new foundation, motivation, and mindset for Da Nang to rise up in the new era... At the same time, he hopes that the center will quickly attract talent and create high-class products.
