With just over 2 weeks left until the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, businesses and retailers have fully prepared essential goods for Tet, ensuring supply to the market at stable prices and committed to selling at the listed price. Purchasing power in the market has begun to increase, especially in urban areas.

It is expected that this year, the purchasing power of goods for Tet will be equal to the average increase of previous years and increase about 15% compared to the average of the months of the year.

Up to now, the amount of goods prepared for Tet has been guaranteed as last year. Particularly, the supermarket system, shopping malls, and convenience stores have prepared an average increase of over 15% in goods compared to last year, focusing on essential items: food, foodstuff, candy, fish sauce, instant noodles, cooking oil, beer, and soft drinks.

Comrade Nguyen Khai Hoan, Head of the Trade Department, Department of Industry and Trade informed: Through inspection and survey, the quantity of consumer goods for Tet this year has been prepared by businesses and business establishments in sufficient quantity and diverse in designs and types. Along with that, businesses and business establishments have launched many attractive promotional and discount programs to attract customers, making the year-end shopping atmosphere more exciting, purchasing power has begun to increase, especially in urban areas. Along with preparing goods, distribution and wholesale businesses are also interested in organizing a good distribution system to bring Tet goods to consumers, especially price-stabilized goods through supporting and creating conditions for businesses to organize Tet sales points, fairs, and Tet markets.

Statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade also show that the amount of goods reserved by enterprises participating in the price stabilization program is stable compared to the same period last year. Specifically, currently, enterprises and dealer networks are reserving about 221 billion VND worth of stabilized goods. The groups of goods in the price stabilization project include: Essential goods groups: Food (rice, noodles, dry pho...); pork; poultry; seafood; poultry eggs; processed foods; vegetables; sugar; cooking oil; spices (fish sauce, dipping sauce, salt, MSG...); processed milk (liquid milk, powdered milk...). Groups of goods with high demand during the Lunar New Year: Tet jams, confectionery; wine, beer, soft drinks. The value of the reserve goods of essential goods participating in the project is from 400-450 billion VND.

In addition, retail businesses such as Go Ninh Binh, Vinmart, Lan Chi and the Vinmart+ system also implemented price stabilization programs during the Lunar New Year for essential goods: food, foodstuff, confectionery, fish sauce, instant noodles, cooking oil, beer, soft drinks... estimated to be worth over 600 billion VND.

Besides traditional distribution channels, the supply of Tet goods is also carried out through many channels, with diverse forms such as telephone, Internet, home delivery... so it has met people's needs quite well.

To meet the demand for safe, high-quality food products, the growing number of clean food stores, specialty fruits, and imported fruits in the province has contributed to supplying the market with high-quality products. The buying and selling of goods at markets, shopping malls, supermarkets, and convenience stores is bustling, but the prices of essential goods remain quite stable. Currently, the weather is favorable, the supply of food, food, vegetables, and fruits is abundant, and there are no price fluctuations. For fresh food products, people often buy and store to consume just enough during Tet, so purchasing power is often concentrated on the days before Tet (from December 28 to 30).

Comrade Nguyen Khai Hoan, Head of the Trade Department, Department of Industry and Trade added: From now until Tet, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to drastically implement solutions to stabilize the market of essential goods and ensure the balance of supply and demand of goods during the Tet holiday of Giap Thin.

Continue to urge distribution enterprises participating in the Price Stabilization Project to regularly monitor Price Stabilization Points of Sale, promptly renovate and add some signs "Price Stabilization Points of Sale for Tet" in the areas. The price list must be posted in an easy-to-see location, so that consumers can easily access it. Points with lost or damaged signs and price lists of the Program must be promptly supplemented.

The Department will continue to coordinate with districts, cities and functional agencies to closely monitor the developments of the commodity market, direct and urge departments and affiliated units to regularly and proactively monitor market developments and commodity prices, strengthen inspection and control of food safety and quality for enterprises, production, processing, import and trading establishments, wholesale and retail agents, markets, supermarkets, etc. to promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee on regulatory solutions to stabilize the market and commodity prices. At the same time, request relevant units to seriously implement plans to serve Tet.
