According to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, the city will have a working delegation to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 in Frankfurt, Federal Republic of Germany and learn from experience in developing reading culture in Bologna, Republic of Italy.
The trip aims to strengthen foreign information work, cultural exchange, exhibition activities, consolidate and expand cooperation relations with localities and international organizations to serve the socio-economic development requirements of the city. The Department of Information and Communications has developed a detailed plan to send a delegation to participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 in Frankfurt, Federal Republic of Germany and learn from experience in developing reading culture in Bologna, Republic of Italy from October 13 to 22. The Frankfurt Book Fair is one of the largest book fairs in the world. The delegation of Ho Chi Minh City will have a booth displaying many categories of books, documents, images, outstanding activities of the city's publishing and showing video clips introducing culture, economy, education, and the publishing market of Ho Chi Minh City with a booth area of nearly
100m2 . The new feature of the Ho Chi Minh City booth participating in this year's Book Fair is the gathering of e-book units of the City with the participation and companionship of the Ministry of Information and Communications to promote publications and introduce the culture of Vietnam in general, Ho Chi Minh City in particular through activities at the Frankfurt Book Fair to international friends. At the same time, this is also a place for the Ho Chi Minh City delegation to have the opportunity to exchange and learn from experiences from countries with developed publishing industries, refer to experiences in improving the efficiency of the industry, especially in the field of digital transformation.

According to Mr. Trinh Huu Anh, Head of Publishing, Printing and Distribution Department, Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City will also have a working session with the Organizing Committee of the Frankfurt Book Fair to discuss issues such as copyright, printing, distribution, e-books and exchange contents related to registering to become honored guests at the Frankfurt Book Fair in the following years. The working trip also includes visiting and donating books at the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt, aiming to connect the reading culture between the city and the Vietnamese community in the Federal Republic of Germany. Following the activities in the Federal Republic of Germany, the delegation will continue to be present in the city of Bologna, Italy to study and exchange experiences with the Organizing Committee of the Bologna Children's Book Fair - one of the largest children's reading cultural events in the world, helping the delegation exchange and learn practical experiences to apply to developing a reading culture for children in the country. The trip is an opportunity for the city's publishing, printing and distribution industry to learn and exchange experiences on models and methods of organizing reading culture events and book fairs of a large scale and prestige in the world for flexible application in the city, developing a reading culture for all classes of people. It is known that the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 will take place from October 16 to October 20. Ho Chi Minh City participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2019 and 2023. In 2023, for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City will have a book display booth at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
