At this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in the creative and publishing industries was a prominent topic. Experts from around the world discussed how AI could change the creative process, from writing to publishing to distribution. Meanwhile, many are concerned that AI could devalue creative work and impact the jobs of authors.
Vietnam is proud to introduce more than 1,000 outstanding publications, from the fields of politics, economics, culture to science and technology.
Vietnam participated in the book fair with an exhibition space of more than 100m², introducing about 1000 books from 23 domestic publishers and book companies. This space is not only a place to introduce books but also demonstrates the strength of the Vietnamese publishing industry in the context of strong digital transformation. In addition, the Vietnamese delegation also participated in many important activities such as: meeting, presenting bookshelves to the Vietnamese community in Frankfurt and working with international publishing organizations.
Attending the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese book space at the Frankfurt Book Fair on the afternoon of October 16, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said: "Vietnam is a country with a rich culture and history of thousands of years, where the bookmaking profession has appeared since the 15th century. Currently, with the development of the publishing industry, Vietnam has become a country with a dynamic economy and great potential in this field. We are proud to introduce to the book fair more than 1,000 typical publications, from the fields of politics, economics, culture to science and technology. This is not only an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese culture but also a cultural bridge between Vietnam and the world."

One of Vietnam’s strategic goals at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 is to promote international cooperation. Vietnam had working sessions with the leaders of the Frankfurt Fair Center to discuss the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), aiming to become a guest of honor at the book fair in 2028. In addition, the Vietnamese delegation also exchanged cooperation with representatives of the publishing industry from: Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and India.
The Vietnamese delegation will attend many important events related to culture and publishing.
Also within the framework of the book fair, Vietnamese publishers met and negotiated copyrights with more than 50 international publishing units, opening up many opportunities for cooperation and development for the Vietnamese book market.
Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 will also be a platform for industry experts to discuss new trends such as the intersection of books and digital media, sustainable development in publishing and audiobooks in the new era. It will be a platform to promote creativity and innovation in the global publishing sector.
Vietnam's active participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 is a testament to the continuous development of the country's publishing industry, and is also an important step in promoting Vietnamese culture to the world.
Some specific activities of the Vietnamese delegation until October 18 include: Meeting, working and presenting bookshelves to the Consulate General and the Vietnamese community in Frankfurt; opening the Vietnam - Book Space with an area of over 100m2, 1000 books of all kinds from 23 publishers and book companies; displaying and introducing books at the booth.
In addition, within the framework of the Opening Ceremony, important contact and working activities were carried out, such as: Working with the Leaders of the Frankfurt Fair Center to discuss the signing of a MOU on bilateral cooperation with Vietnam as an honored guest in 2028; working with the Publishing Associations: Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indian Book Fair...; Vietnamese Publishing Houses met and worked, transacted copyright with over 50 publishing units./.
