Youth need to pioneer in innovation and digital transformation

On the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025) and Youth Month 2025, on the afternoon of March 24, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a dialogue conference with young people on "Vietnamese youth pioneering in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation".

Whoever has strengths and talents will have a place to show their skills.

In order for Vietnamese youth to play a pioneering and pivotal role in the digital age, the Prime Minister "ordered" three key requirements. First of all, he emphasized the spirit of "practice and words", requiring young people to seriously fulfill all commitments. The young generation needs to constantly make breakthroughs, demonstrate determination, and be pioneers in the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

This is not only a responsibility but also a launching pad for young people to affirm their mettle, intelligence and aspiration to contribute to a strong, civilized and prosperous Vietnam.

The Prime Minister hopes that young people will inspire breakthrough thinking, dare to think of things that no one has thought of, dare to do things that no one has done, and act decisively and strongly. Great aspirations need to be realized through specific products and projects, bringing practical results to the country. Each young person must be sensitive to seize every opportunity and have the ability to respond flexibly and effectively to policies.

The Prime Minister expressed his belief in the indomitable will of the youth, calling for the promotion of the spirit of "not being arrogant in victory, not being discouraged in defeat", nurturing the desire to conquer new heights, turning seemingly impossible things into possible. The young generation must maintain "a pure heart - bright mind - great ambition", think thoroughly, act strongly, have a strategic vision, value every moment of time, maximize intelligence and make wise and timely decisions, constantly strive to overcome all limits to devote themselves to the development of the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in order to encourage young people to proactively and actively contribute to the development of science and technology, innovation, startups and national digital transformation, the Government and the Prime Minister will focus on directing three key tasks in the coming time.

The top priority is to perfect the institutional system, mechanisms and policies to support young people in these areas, considering this a key factor, both a bottleneck that needs to be cleared and a driving force to create strong breakthroughs. The Government will also develop infrastructure for science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, while improving the investment and business environment, creating the most favorable conditions for young people to participate deeply in activities to develop science and technology, innovation, start-ups and digital transformation nationwide.

Finally, the Government will focus on investing in the strong development of high-quality young human resources, with special attention to cutting-edge technology fields, to equip young people with the necessary knowledge and skills to master the digital future.

"The spirit is to create conditions to maximize each person's capacity, create the most favorable conditions for each person to pursue their passion, ambition, and strengths. Whoever has strengths and specialties will have a place to show their talents," said the Prime Minister.

In particular, the Prime Minister called on the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation to launch practical emulation movements, focusing on the "Three Pioneers" and "Six Key Points". The goal is to strongly arouse the contribution and dedication of young people to the country's development with a spirit of initiative and creativity through the "Five Initiatives".

First of all, be proactive in studying and researching to master modern science and technology; proactively contribute ideas to policy making; proactively apply technology in management to improve work efficiency; proactively start businesses and innovate with breakthrough ideas; and proactively integrate internationally, improve capacity to affirm Vietnam's position.

To truly promote the role of youth, the Prime Minister requested all levels and sectors to create all favorable conditions for youth to participate deeply in the fields of science, technology and digital transformation, especially in attracting talent and supporting start-up activities.

The Prime Minister emphasized: "There needs to be more activities to exchange, listen, and resolve basic issues that young people are interested in and recommend, especially in promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation, policies to support young people in studying, researching, working, starting creative businesses, and establishing investment funds."

Resources come from thinking and vision

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, over the past time, Vietnamese youth have affirmed their leading role in the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation, leaving strong marks in many fields.

Among these are outstanding achievements such as breakthroughs in learning, research and technology development, demonstrated through the fact that technology startups led by young people have implemented many AI and digital technology projects, effectively applied in medical data analysis and smart agriculture, optimizing production processes and reducing costs.

The startup and innovation movement among young people has also been promoted, as evidenced by the initial success of many digital technology products such as Momo e-wallet, Base.vn business management platform...

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has actively organized many programs and awards to honor creative ideas and create a widespread ripple effect, supporting tens of thousands of youth union members to start businesses, realizing tens of thousands of ideas and initiatives with a total support value of up to hundreds of billions of VND, along with the mobile application "Vietnamese Youth" attracting millions of users.

Young people have also played an active role in the country’s digital transformation, with millions of people participating in digital skills training courses, improving their ability to access new technologies. Hundreds of thousands of young volunteers have supported the deployment of online public services, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, young people have taken the lead in applying online platforms for learning, remote medical examination and treatment, health declaration and online volunteering activities.

In addition, young people also demonstrate their responsibility in preserving and promoting national cultural identity, pioneering in digitizing data on cultural heritage and red addresses, and creating many online platforms to introduce traditional arts.

Many young artists have creatively combined folk music with contemporary music, attracting a large audience. Among them, the work "Bac Bling (Bac Ninh)" is a typical example contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture to the world and absorbing the quintessence of human civilization.

According to the Prime Minister, resources come from thinking and vision, motivation comes from innovation and creativity, and strength comes from people and businesses.

In particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appreciated that Vietnamese youth have actively participated in international activities with tens of thousands of students participating in cultural exchanges, academic cooperation and studying abroad each year. Many young scientists have highly applicable research works, recognized by the international community.

Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's advice: "Young people will be the masters of the country. They must study forever and progress forever to be truly young", the Prime Minister called on Vietnamese youth to further promote the spirit of "Wherever needed, there are young people, wherever difficult, there are young people", always being proactive, creative, actively raising the pioneering flag, successfully fulfilling their mission in the scientific and technological revolution, innovation and national digital transformation.

The Prime Minister hopes and believes that Vietnamese youth in the new era, with the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride", will continue to strive to rise up strongly, overcome all difficulties and challenges, continue the glorious tradition of previous generations, and continue to write new heroic pages of the nation's history.
