Binh Thuan After about 10 hours of clinging to the sea, 14 crew members were rescued by a passing German cargo ship, expected to be brought to Vung Tau tomorrow afternoon.

The Barzan ship (German nationality) rescued the fishermen from Binh Dinh at 12:20 p.m., while on its way to transport goods from China to Singapore. "Currently, the health of the crew members is stable," said the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 3 in Vung Tau, after receiving information via phone from the captain of the Barzan ship on the afternoon of November 20.

The Barzan ship is 400 meters long, 58.6 meters wide, and has a tonnage of over 190,000 tons, registered in the port of Hamburg (Germany). The ship will take the fishermen to Vung Tau at noon on November 21, instead of going straight to Singapore on November 22 as originally planned, according to Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh Province Tran Van Phuc.

When the Barzan ship is 20 nautical miles (nearly 40 km) from shore, the coast guard ship will receive the fishermen and take them to Cat Lo port - Vung Tau. Previously, after receiving information that the fishermen were rescued, the National Committee for Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue had a plan to dispatch coast guard ship 6007 to bring the victims back.

A fishing boat carrying 14 fishermen was sunk by a large wave 92 nautical miles (more than 165 km) from Phu Quy Island at 3:30 a.m. today, two weeks after leaving Tam Quan port (Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh). Captain Huynh Van Ban, 37, sent out an urgent distress signal. The crew members clung to floating objects on the boat, waiting for rescue.

The National Committee for Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue has requested Binh Thuan province to urgently rescue the victims. The locality requested the provincial Border Guard to direct its subordinate border posts to coordinate with ships near the scene of the sunken ship to participate in the rescue.

The weather in Binh Thuan sea area in the past few days has been bad, with showers, northeast winds at level 6-7, gusting to level 8; in the rain there are tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, and waves 4-6 m high.
