Mr. Le Van Nam, Deputy General Director of Hoa Binh Construction Group (HBC) from 2014 to 2019, was appointed General Director today.
Mr. Nam was born in 1976 and graduated as a civil engineer from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. He worked at HBC since 2001 as a supervisory engineer, then promoted to deputy commander, commander, project director and in 2014 became Deputy General Director in charge of the Northern region. By mid-2019, Mr. Nam resigned from this position.

Before Mr. Nam was appointed, the position of General Director of HBC had been vacant for nearly a year since the company dismissed Mr. Le Viet Hieu - son of Chairman of the Board of Directors Le Viet Hai - to ensure legality.
This appointment decision is different from the plan shared by Mr. Hai at the end of last year. At that time, the head of HBC said he would resign as Chairman of the Board of Directors to ensure the appointment of his son back to the position of General Director after this year's annual shareholders' meeting in accordance with the provisions of the Enterprise Law.
However, due to internal disagreements on personnel management, Mr. Hai withdrew his decision to leave the Board of Directors. The plan therefore changed. Mr. Hieu is still the permanent Deputy General Director, and the company has not yet held a general meeting of shareholders to announce the business results of last year and this year's goals because the preparation and audit of financial statements have not been completed.
HBC today also announced many decisions to appoint and dismiss other senior personnel such as Deputy General Director, Chief Accountant, Chairman and General Director of subsidiaries.
On the stock exchange, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange announced that this stock would be restricted from trading (only allowed to trade in the afternoon session) from May 23 because the company was 45 days late in submitting its audited financial report compared to the prescribed deadline. This information caused HBC shares to fall sharply, closing today's session at VND7,850, down nearly 20% compared to the beginning of the week.
