Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has just announced his readiness to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky
"I want to emphasize Ukraine's commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. No one wants peace more than the Ukrainian people. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve a lasting peace," President Zelensky wrote on social network X.
In a statement on March 4, the Ukrainian leader said he was ready to act quickly to end the fighting and that the first steps could include a prisoner exchange and an air ceasefire – which would ban the use of missiles, long-range drones, and bombs against civilian and energy infrastructure – along with an immediate maritime ceasefire, if Russia did the same. “After that, we look forward to moving quickly through all the next stages and working with the United States to reach a strong peace agreement,” he wrote.
President Zelensky also affirmed that Ukraine "truly appreciates" what the United States has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. "And we do not forget the important moment when President Trump provided Javelin missiles to Ukraine. We are grateful for that," the Ukrainian leader affirmed.
Trump suggests Zelensky could leave for refusing deal
Speaking about the meeting with President Trump at the White House on February 28, Mr. Zelensky admitted that it did not go the way it should have and that he felt regretful. Regarding the agreement related to minerals and security, Mr. Zelensky said Ukraine was ready to sign it at any time and in any suitable form. "We see this as a step towards greater safety and strong security guarantees, and I sincerely hope that this agreement will be effective," he wrote.
Mr. Zelensky's statement came just days after he met with European leaders in London (UK). Previously, on February 28, he traveled to the US to meet directly with Mr. Trump and discussed the solution to the conflict that has been going on for more than 3 years between Russia and Ukraine as well as the mineral agreement expected to be signed with the US.
However, the meeting did not have a good result as the two sides argued and became tense. No agreement was signed. Mr. Zelensky left the White House with criticism from the US leader afterwards.
Speaking to the media on the evening of March 2, Mr. Zelensky said the agreement would be signed if both sides were ready. In addition, the Ukrainian leader added that the relationship between Ukraine and the United States could be saved. He also suggested that the negotiations should be held in a closed-door meeting instead of with the media present.
Also related to the situation in Ukraine, on the morning of March 4, US media outlets simultaneously quoted White House officials saying that the Trump administration decided to suspend all aid to Ukraine.
The Kremlin said on the same day that the US halting military aid to Ukraine would be the best contribution to the goal of peace, but stressed that Russia needed to clarify the details of US President Donald Trump's move, according to Reuters.
Meanwhile, Mr. Zelensky's above post did not mention the information reported by the US media.
