Speaking with VietNamNet reporters on the morning of June 24, Mr. Pham Dang Khoa - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, confirmed that the data of nearly 2,000 failing scores in the 10th grade entrance exam in Dak Lak is accurate.

Explaining the reason for so many failing scores in this exam, Mr. Khoa said that there were two objective reasons for so many failing scores.

Firstly, in March, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee announced the plan for the 10th grade entrance exam even though the unit had consulted since the beginning of the year. This resulted in students having very little time to prepare for the exam.

Second, this is the first 10th grade entrance exam to be held after 10 years. This leads to students lacking skills in taking the exam because from grades 1 to 9, there is no centralized exam for the whole province, so they do not have the opportunity to practice their skills.

Regarding subjective causes, Mr. Khoa said that it is not possible to assess whether this is directly related to teaching and learning. In the near future, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province will review teaching and learning at the secondary school level, and will guide to follow the regulations in any shortcomings.

This year, in Dak Lak, in addition to the 3 specialized schools that have held entrance exams before, including Nguyen Du Specialized High School, N'Trang Long Boarding Ethnic High School and Dam San Boarding Ethnic High School, there are 9 more public high schools organizing entrance exams.

The enrollment target for the 9 public high schools that held the exam was 4,572 students. However, the schools were only able to enroll 3,893 students, 679 students short of the target.

Schools with a large shortage of students include Krong Ana High School, which was assigned to enroll 484 students but was only able to enroll 292, a shortage of 192. Phan Boi Chau High School (Krong Nang district) was assigned to enroll 440 students but was only able to enroll 261, a shortage of 179.

Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Krong Pak district) was assigned to recruit 480 students but was only able to recruit 362, 118 students short.

The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Dak Lak took place from June 6 to June 8, with nearly 8,000 candidates taking the exam, with 3 subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language.

Just over 1 point/subject to pass into public grade 10 Many provinces and cities across the country have announced the standard scores for entering public grade 10. At some schools, candidates only need to achieve an average of over 1 point/subject to pass.
