Domestic coffee price list updated early morning March 5, 2025 |
A weakening USD, adverse weather in key coffee growing countries, and falling inventories will keep coffee prices on an upward trend.
According to experts, one of the reasons for the increase in coffee prices is the weakening of the US dollar, which has fallen to its lowest level since February. In addition, strong buying power from financial investors on the trading floor has also contributed to pushing prices up.
In addition, coffee prices increased sharply thanks to many supporting factors. First of all, coffee inventories on ICE exchanges decreased sharply, in which Arabica inventories hit a 9-month low, while Robusta inventories also continuously decreased. This increased concerns about supply.
In addition, the supply situation from two major producing countries, Brazil and Vietnam, also affected prices. Brazilian farmers limited sales due to the depreciation of the Real, while in Vietnam, coffee is entering the final stages of the harvest, slowing down supply.
Data from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment shows that coffee exports continued to decline in the first two months of the year.
Total coffee exports from Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of robusta, reached 284,000 tonnes (4.73 million bags), down 28.4% year-on-year. However, export value increased sharply by 26.2% to US$1.58 billion.
The average export price of coffee is estimated at 5,575 USD/ton, up 76.3% over the same period in 2024. Germany, Italy and Japan continue to be the three main consumption markets with market shares of 16.6%, 9.4% and 8.2%, respectively.
