Samsung's mid-range smartphone 'overshadows' Galaxy S25 and S24

While neither is perfect, both of these Samsung offerings offer plenty of upgrades that make buying them feel like a bargain compared to standard high-end Galaxy models like the Galaxy S25 and S24.

Charging: When Premium is No Longer Premium

Notably, the Galaxy A56 and A36 feature 45W fast charging, an impressive figure in the mid-range segment. High-end models such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Plus also have similar charging speeds, which shows that Samsung has invested heavily in the A series. Meanwhile, the regular Galaxy S25 is only equipped with 25W charging, an unfortunate shortage.

Samsung is making the basic Galaxy S smartphone less and less attractive

Even the high-end Galaxy Z Fold 6 only supports 25W charging, which makes many consumers feel dissatisfied. Although Samsung has its own reasons for equipping slow charging technology for high-end models, in the context of 2025, users are expecting stronger improvements from the company.

One UI 7: Samsung's Unnecessary Delay

While the Galaxy S25 is still a more comprehensive device, the new Galaxy A series is not without its surprises. One of the highlights is the One UI 7 interface, which is currently only available on the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy A56, A36, A26 models. This means that users of other phone lines will still have to wait to experience the latest version of Android 15.

Notably, the One UI 7 software update for the Galaxy S24 has yet to be released, despite Android 15 rolling out in October 2024. Users in Europe and Asia are expected to receive the update on April 7, while those in the US will have to wait until April 10.

Samsung determined to increase foldable phone sales

Compared to the 26-day rollout of Android 14-based One UI 6 for the Galaxy S23, the delay in One UI 7 is regrettable. However, it's still not as serious as Apple's delay in launching new features for Siri, which aren't expected to arrive until 2026.
