While these Xiaomi devices may still function, users will face increased security risks and some apps may no longer work due to the discontinuation of software and security updates.
Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is one of seven products that Xiaomi will abandon from next month
According to information from Xiaomi, there are seven smartphone models on the "blacklist" that will no longer receive updates, including: POCO F4, Redmi K50 Gaming, Redmi 10A, Redmi Note 11S, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11 HyperCharge.
Multiple final patches ready to be released by Xiaomi
Notably, before they stop receiving major updates, the POCO F4 GT and Redmi K50 Gaming will be upgraded to HyperOS 2.0. However, this upgrade will be based on the older Android 14 operating system instead of Android 15. Once the update is complete, the support lifecycle for both models will end.
The remaining models on the list will also receive different versions of the software update. Specifically, the Redmi 10A will run MIUI 12.5, while the other models will end the update cycle with HyperOS 1, which is a platform based on the outdated Android 13 operating system.
Xiaomi's smartphone market share surpasses Apple's, almost equal to Samsung's, but still falls short in this regard
As mentioned, users of these Xiaomi devices can still continue to use them, but experts recommend that they start looking for alternatives for peace of mind during use. Finding alternatives should not be too difficult, especially since Xiaomi has introduced many new phones this year with more affordable prices from its sub-brands such as Redmi and POCO.
In addition, some other smartphone models from competitors such as Samsung, OPPO or Realme will also give users many valuable options.
