This information is now even clearer when Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman said he really doesn't expect "exciting new features" for the iPhone 17 model.
The direct successor to the iPhone 16 is not highly rated
In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said the standard iPhone 17 will continue the pattern of previous years without any major new features. According to previous leaks, the low-cost version will retain the design introduced with the iPhone 16. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a new camera interface that combines aluminum and glass, with a rearrangement of the camera components, including the LiDAR scanner, flashlight, and microphone on the side.
The iPhone 17 isn't completely lacking in upgrades
But the budget iPhone 17 won't be completely lacking in innovation. Unlike the iPhone 14, which is widely considered to be the most boring version of its predecessor, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 17 will have some improvements like the long-awaited ProMotion technology and Always-On Display. Gurman also said there will be "some minor improvements to the rear camera" and a new A19 chip.
Compare the speed of Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Bloomberg's expert also recommends that those who want to upgrade to a new iPhone and are willing to spend more than 20 million VND should consider "spending about 3 million VND more to buy the new thinner iPhone 17 Air". Despite only having a single rear camera and some limitations due to the ultra-thin design, users will not have to sacrifice many other specifications for the iPhone 17 Air while still getting "a significantly thinner and lighter phone with a larger screen area".
Finally, Gurman also said that the iPhone 17 Pro models will be equipped with a major upgraded camera system with 48 MP sensors on all three rear cameras.
