Saigon Co.op opens plum and agricultural product festival in Son La province

On May 25, the People's Committee of Son La province and the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) continued to coordinate to organize the opening ceremony of the "Plum and Agricultural Products Festival of Son La province" in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

This is the opening event for a series of activities introducing Son La specialties at Saigon Co.op's 800 points of sale nationwide from May 24 to June 1. This is also the first time Saigon Co.op has connected with the Northwestern provinces to bring specialties of these localities to all parts of the country through the system's 800 points of sale. During the week introducing Son La plums and agricultural products, Saigon Co.op plans to sell 100 tons of Son La plums harvested from raw material areas in Moc Chau and Yen Chau districts. Son La plums are put into business in a system that meets food safety standards, VietGAP standards, and has a certificate of origin from a competent authority. The price of Son La plums is kept stable by Co.opmart and Co.opXtra, good compared to the market. Co.opmart and Co.opXtra are running promotions to bring plum prices down to only 29,900 VND/kg from May 24 to June 1. In addition to reserving the best locations for Son La agricultural products, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets are organizing for customers to try products or try products made from plums: Plum jam, dried plums, plum syrup... On the first day of the program (May 24), more than 10 tons of Son La plums were sold by Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food... on the same day. Customers highly appreciate Son La plums for their sweetness, crispness, and aroma; the eye-catching bright red color is true to plums from the Northwest mountains. This is the result of the careful preparation process from warehouses, means of transportation, preservation to distribution that Saigon Co.op has carried out for Vietnamese agricultural products in general and Son La plums in particular.

On this occasion, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra also introduced agricultural products and OCOP products of Son La such as: longan, yellow passion fruit, coffee, tea, dried longan, black garlic, vermicelli, buffalo meat/pork jerky, cham cheo, dried bamboo shoots, lingzhi mushrooms, etc. Expanding the supply to the Northwestern provinces helps goods in the Saigon Co.op system become more and more diverse and rich in types, ensuring a sustainable supply and competitive prices so that mountainous specialties can reach customers more closely. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee said: "Bringing Son La plums into Saigon Co.op's distribution system nationwide is a very important channel for products to reach consumers nationwide, enhancing the value and positioning of Son La plum brand. This is also the most concrete demonstration of the cooperation between Son La province and Saigon Co.op". Sharing at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - General Director of Saigon Co.op said: "The proportion of Vietnamese goods in Saigon Co.op's distribution systems always reaches more than 90%, including more than 1,000 OCOP products from enterprises and cooperatives nationwide. The unit always supports and is ready to cooperate with agricultural, industrial and handicraft production establishments to create opportunities to promote brands, expand markets and develop business. Saigon Co.op is always a pioneer in stabilizing market prices; is a bridge to bring high-quality Vietnamese goods, OCOP products, and local products to consumers nationwide. Bringing Son La plums into Saigon Co.op's distribution system nationwide is a close cooperation between distributors, manufacturers and local authorities, practical to bring Vietnamese agricultural products further and further". Saigon Co.op continues to organize similar festivals to support Vietnamese agricultural products, enhancing the experience for customers when visiting and shopping at Co.opmart and Co.opXtra.
