Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), commented: “In February 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 193,031 tons, bringing in more than 1.08 billion USD.”

For the first time, Vietnam's coffee export turnover exceeded the $1 billion mark in just one month. This result was achieved thanks to the highest export volume since the beginning of the harvest season (from October 2024), ranging from 50,000 - 155,000 tons/month. At the same time, the export price of coffee also remained high, averaging $5,596/ton, including processed products.

Of which, coffee bean exports reached 315,615 tons, earning more than 1.65 billion USD. Although output decreased by 14.8% compared to the same period last year, export value still increased sharply by 50%.

Pepper continues its upward trend

According to a report from the International Pepper Community (IPC), updated at 5:00 a.m. on March 5, 2025, the global pepper market is still on the rise, with pepper prices in Indonesia continuing to adjust up from 28 - 39 USD/ton. Meanwhile, other markets remain stable.

The Malaysian market remained stable, with ASTA black pepper prices at USD 9,700/ton and ASTA white pepper at USD 12,200/ton.

In Brazil, pepper prices after a previous slight adjustment are now stable at 6,850 USD/ton.

Pepper export prices from Vietnam tend to be stable and decrease slightly. Currently, black pepper of 500 g/l is being traded at 6,900 USD/ton, 550 g/l is at 7,100 USD/ton, while white pepper is priced at 9,900 USD/ton.

Since the beginning of 2025, domestic pepper prices have increased sharply, with an amplitude of 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg. In February alone, pepper prices increased by 10,000 - 11,000 VND/kg, bringing the current price to 157,000 - 159,000 VND/kg. Compared to the same period last year, domestic pepper prices have increased by 65 - 70%.

The main reason for the increase in pepper prices is the sharp decrease in cultivated area over the past decade, as farmers switch to other crops such as coffee and durian. At the same time, consumption demand from major markets such as Europe and the US is increasing significantly.

The sharp increase in pepper prices has helped farmers improve their income and restore confidence in the crop once known as the "black gold" of the Central Highlands. For sustainable development, Gia Lai aims to maintain pepper growing areas of about 8,500 - 10,000 hectares, focusing on developing large-scale production areas...
