The Sau Sau forest was recorded by Nguyen Duc Hieu, a student majoring in information technology from Quang Tri province, during the New Year holiday while exploring the mountainous region of Huong Hoa district.
The tree changes leaves after changing leaves, standing out and creating a highlight among the green forest.
The mangrove forests are located along the Quang Tri hydroelectric lake.
From the center of Khe Sanh town (Huong Hoa district), along National Highway 14 to Huong Phung commune, when starting to reach Quang Tri hydroelectric lake, the forests that are changing leaves will gradually appear with orange, red, yellow leaves... interspersed with the deep green forests of the Truong Son range.
Beautiful European-like scenery in western Quang Tri
The view from above offers an extraordinary beauty.
"When I passed by here, I was so impressed by the beauty of this forest. I felt like I was somewhere in Europe, so I stopped to admire and capture that moment," Hieu shared.
From September to November of the lunar calendar is the time when the Sau Sau tree changes its leaves.
In recent days, not only Hieu but also many other young people have come to the Sau Sau forest. Young people use sup and boats to follow the streams flowing to the hydroelectric lake to go deep into the forest, to explore the natural beauty that only appears once a year. Many people thought they were "lost" in a maple forest in the changing season in Europe, although the leaves are smaller and not as "angular" as the maple trees.
The yellow, red, orange leaves... create a unique beauty for the Sau Sau tree.
The time when the Sau Sau tree changes its leaves usually takes place from September to November of the lunar calendar. In Huong Hoa District, this tree species appears a lot along National Highway 14. Besides the Sau Sau forest, there are many other beautiful scenes that young people come to seek out to promote the beauty of their homeland Quang Tri.
The Sau Sau tree (also known as the Phong Huong tree, Bach Giao tree...) is often distributed in the northern highland provinces. This is a tree species that grows well in humid environments. Besides bringing beautiful moments in the leaf-changing season, the Sau Sau tree is also known by people as a valuable medicinal plant to treat diseases such as toothache, asthma...
This tree is often confused with the red maple because of its similar leaf shape and the way the leaves change color during the changing seasons. The way to distinguish between the two is that the red maple bears fruit while the red maple does not.
