With the defeat, Portugal must win against Denmark at home at Estadio Jose Alvalade in the early morning of March 24 to be able to get a ticket to the semi-finals. Ronaldo admitted that the pressure has been covering the Portuguese team in recent days.
"We are not in a life-or-death moment, but more tense. We know we have to win tomorrow. The beauty of football is the challenge. On the pitch, we will give everything to win," Ronaldo said.
The Al-Nassr star was critical of himself and his team after the first-leg defeat in Copenhagen, but believes the power of the home crowd can play a key role in helping Portugal turn things around.
Ronaldo called out: "Tomorrow, I call on the fans to come with us. Let them give us strength, because we will do our best.
Tomorrow I want to leave the Alvalade stadium with my head held high. If I score, I will be happy, but if I don't score, let someone else score, what I want is for Portugal to win."
Talking about his physical condition and ability to play, Ronaldo revealed: "I am always ready to play. The most important thing is that Portugal must win, regardless of whether I play or not. I know how to recover, both physically and mentally, and I am ready to help the team."
Ronaldo now has 928 goals, including 135 for Portugal. The 39-year-old's goal is to reach the 1,000-goal mark!
