Speaking at the ceremony, Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh requested the school to continue promoting its achievements, improve the quality of education, strengthen moral education, lifestyle, life skills, physical education for students, ensure school safety; focus on improving the quality of foreign language teaching and learning, and apply information technology so that ethnic minority students have more opportunities to find jobs in the future...
In particular, the school focuses on nurturing and educating students about the spirit of solidarity and mutual love among ethnic groups so that each student of the school is a cultural representative of a region and an ethnic group; creating conditions for them to experience the traditional cultural values of their own ethnic group and come into contact with the cultural values of other ethnic groups so that the flow of culture is constantly nurtured and strengthened... From there, students increase their understanding, preserve the cultural identity of their own ethnic group, and at the same time understand and respect the cultural identity of other ethnic groups...

The Viet Bac Highland Secondary School is a school with a long tradition in Thai Nguyen province. In order to meet the training needs of cadres, especially ethnic minority cadres, in early 1957, the Party Committee and the Administrative Committee of the Viet Bac Autonomous Region decided to establish the Viet Bac Highland Children's School; in September 1959, the Viet Bac Autonomous Region Workers' and Peasants' Supplementary Education School was established. In 1970, the Party Committee and the Administrative Committee of the Viet Bac Autonomous Region decided to merge the two schools into a school named "Viet Bac Highland Secondary School and Workers' and Peasants' Supplementary Education School". In 1976, the Viet Bac Autonomous Region was dissolved, the school was managed by the Ministry of Education and renamed the Viet Bac Highland Secondary School. According to Decision No. 1127/QD-TTg dated September 26, 2022 of the Prime Minister, the Viet Bac Highland Secondary School changed its governing body from the Ministry of Education and Training to the Committee for Ethnic Minorities.
At the opening ceremony, students listened to the President's letter to the education sector. Teacher Luc Thuy Hang, Principal of the school, said that the school currently has two training systems: Boarding Ethnic Minority General Education and Ethnic Minority University Preparatory for more than 30 ethnic minorities, including very small ethnic groups such as Ngai, Lu, Mang, Sila, Clao, La Chi, La Hu, Cong, Pu Péo, Bo Y... As of 2023, the school has trained about 53,000 students who are children of 32 ethnic minorities in 21 mountainous provinces from Quang Binh and above. The rate of students passing the university entrance exam over the years is over 70%; university preparatory 25%; college, intermediate nearly 5%; more than 5,500 students of the university preparatory system have graduated and are all qualified to study at universities.
More than 300 students of the school have achieved national excellent student awards and won prizes at national science and technology research competitions; the school's students have initially approached international competitions. Many generations of students have grown up to be senior officials of the Party and State, thousands of them are key officials in localities, teaching staff at universities and colleges... In the 2023-2024 school year, Viet Bac High School happily welcomes more than 900 grade 10 students of the 66th course.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang presented flowers and 10 sets of computers to the school./.
