Acting talent is more emphasized
In the past, in order to "attract" audiences, Vietnamese films shown in theaters often chose young and beautiful faces as the main characters: models, singers, hot girls - hot boys famous on social networks. Now the audience is more demanding about the quality of acting, so producers do not dare to risk choosing amateurs, "mobile vase" types - only to beautify the screen but do not know how to act or act very poorly. Not long ago, in August 2022, Duyen Ma (director Khanh Toan - Tam Nguyen) with the acting of model Ngoc Trinh was evaluated by both audiences and experts as a "disaster film" of Vietnamese cinema. In addition to the loose script, many errors, bad makeup and visual effects, Ngoc Trinh's bland and awkward acting in the main role made the audience unacceptable. The film was heavily criticized despite having the male lead Kieu Minh Tuan, after 15 days of showing, it only earned 6.6 billion VND.
Veteran actors on acting in Blood Moon Party
Currently, in response to the audience's increasingly demanding tastes, producers and directors have changed direction, choosing skilled actors for the main roles. Recent films featuring veteran, professional actors in the main roles have increasingly attracted viewers, such as Lat mat 6: Tac ve dinh menh, Con Nhót mot chong, Tiec trang mau...
When making the film Lat mat 6: The fateful ticket, director Ly Hai proactively invited "old" but talented actors such as Huy Khanh, Quoc Cuong, Trung Dung, Thanh Thuc, Diep Bao Ngoc... and all were praised for their acting when the film was released. When asked if there was any pressure when most of the actors were not popular faces, Ly Hai said: "I did not invite star actors and tailor them with the thought that the film would attract audiences. The important thing for a film to be successful is to recruit a cast based on the criteria of being suitable for the role, acting well, making people believe the story is true. I do not want the audience to waste time and money going to the cinema to watch the film and I believe that a quality work, especially the acting, will be well received by the audience."
The film Con Nhót nhớp chồng by Vu Ngoc Dang achieved a good revenue of 75 billion VND, largely thanks to the impressive and emotional acting of Thu Trang (as the daughter named Nhót) and Thai Hoa (as the father named Xin). Both actors have the ability to make the audience "goosebumps" many times because of the way they express themselves through their eyes and actions, showing the impasse when love cannot be expressed in words.

"60 (years old) is not the end!"
The statement of actress Michelle Yeoh (61 years old) in March this year when she won the Oscar for Best Actress: "The golden statue is proof that dreams and hopes can come true if you have talent and patience to wait for the role. Don't let anyone tell you that your time is up" made millions of audiences around the world burst into emotion, including the feelings of many middle-aged actors in Vietnam. Because, for a long time, Vietnamese cinema has had very few scripts for middle-aged actors to play the main role. For many years, the main role in Vietnamese films shown in theaters has often been given to new, young faces; middle-aged artists have had few opportunities, mainly playing supporting roles.
But now there has been a remarkable transformation and change when many movie scripts in which the main roles are built for middle-aged characters. "50-year-old uncles" such as actors Quoc Cuong and Trung Dung helped Ly Hai's Lat mat 6: The ticket of destiny become a great success with 272 billion VND in revenue. Artist Le Giang at the age of 51 with the main role of the difficult Mrs. Nu in the movie Mrs. Nu's House has partly helped the movie attract viewers, reaching a revenue of 425 billion VND. Director Tran Thanh did not hesitate to give his assessment: "Considering Le Giang's age, we must admit that she is a talented actress. I am sure that any director who understands and exploits Le Giang's inner strength will not be disappointed because she can act very well in the right type of role".

People's Artist Kim Xuan (67 years old) when chosen to play the main role as a character with all kinds of sorrow in the movie released in theaters at the end of 2022 - Blood Happiness, could not help but be moved to share that "I have been waiting for a long time to freely act with the main role". Indeed, the impressive performance of People's Artist Kim Xuan is the biggest highlight of the movie when the veteran artist smoothly expressed the transformation of the character's mood in the movie. Many "winged" compliments were sent to People's Artist Kim Xuan after the movie Blood Happiness was released. Similarly, the audience also did not hesitate to praise the "master" acting of People's Artist Le Khanh (60 years old) when playing the main role and the character role in Gai gia lam chieu V - Nhung cuoc doi hoang gia, Gai gia lam chieu 3, Co gai tu qua qua.
Director Vu Ngoc Dang, when making the film Con Nhót nhớt chồng, said: "Vietnam has many good actors who can fulfill the character's colors. I feel lucky because among those good actors, I met Thai Hoa (49 years old - PV) and Thu Trang (39 years old). They gave me a lot of emotions on the set with their creativity, professionalism, dedication and I understand why they can conquer the audience. If it weren't for Thai Hoa and Thu Trang, the film would hardly have moments of calmness and emotion without having to use dialogue."
Previously, in the movie Blood Moon Party (2020, revenue of 175 billion VND), Thai Hoa - Thu Trang played the role of a married couple with many hidden and hidden problems in their private lives, also completely conquered the audience with their acting, alongside a cast of veteran actors: Hong Anh, Duc Thinh, Hua Vi Van, Kieu Minh Tuan... Director Nguyen Quang Dung shared: "I was excited and delighted to make the movie Blood Moon Party, because it was a movie where all the main characters were middle-aged - over 40 years old. This is extremely rare in any previous Vietnamese movie script, and that is a disadvantage for actors who are no longer young even though their acting is increasingly mature. I hope that Vietnamese movies will have more movies that exploit the depth of actors' acting, and boldly make scripts with middle-aged, mature main characters, because the excellent acting of talented actors is the most attractive highlight for any movie that invites them to play the main role".
