Khanh Hoa welcomes 24,000 Russian visitors in the first 2 months of 2025

According to a report by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first two months of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed 24,000 Russian visitors, an increase of 73% over the same period in 2024.

The number of Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa is forecast to continue to increase in the coming time when the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just granted permission to Azur Air (Russia) to operate charter flights from 11 Russian cities to Cam Ranh from March 16, including: Novosibirsk, Vnukovo, Krasnoyarsk, Koltsovo, Irkutsk, Novy, Vladivostok, Ignatyevo, Omsk, Novokuznetsk and Barnaul; average frequency of 14 flights/week.

In addition, Russian national airline Aeroflot has also planned to resume flights from Moscow to Khanh Hoa with a frequency of 2 flights/week from the end of March and will consider increasing the frequency of flights during the peak tourist season, depending on market feedback. Other Russian airlines such as Ikar, North Wind and Red Wing all plan to resume flights from Russia to Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc in the summer of 2025.

Russia is a traditional international tourist market for Vietnam tourism, of which Khanh Hoa is the most favorite destination for Russian visitors. In 2019, Khanh Hoa welcomed about 463,000 Russian tourists, accounting for 71.6% of the total number of Russian visitors to Vietnam (646,524 visitors). Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic and geopolitical instability, flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa have been suspended for a long time. In 2024, Khanh Hoa welcomed about 105,500 Russian visitors, an increase of 206% compared to 2023 but only 22.8% compared to 2019. The opening of flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa by airlines is expected to promote the Russian tourist market to recover even faster in 2025 and the following years.
