On September 10, the Ministry of Transport approved the planning of Pleiku Airport for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the expansion of Pleiku airport.
According to the approved planning, Pleiku Airport is planned to be a 4C airport and a level II military airport.
Pleiku Airport has a capacity of about 4 million passengers and 4,500 tons of cargo/year, meeting the exploitation of A320/A321 aircraft and equivalent.
Also according to the planning, vision to 2050, Pleiku airport has a capacity of about 5 million passengers and 12,000 tons of cargo/year.
To meet the above requirements, the runway system will be extended to the east by about 600m, increasing to 3,000m x 45m. The aircraft parking area north of the runway will be planned in sync with the new civil aviation area, providing 14 parking positions.
Vision to 2050, the expansion plan meets about 18 parking positions, with reserves for expansion when needed. The new passenger terminal plan has a capacity of about 4 million passengers/year.
Vision to 2050, expand the passenger terminal to accommodate about 5 million passengers/year. Expand the cargo terminal to accommodate about 12,000 tons of cargo/year and have land reserves for development.
To implement the planning synchronously, the Ministry of Transport assigned the People's Committee of Gia Lai province to update the content of this planning into local planning.
