Prime Minister requests review of responsibility for delaying a project at Long Thanh airport

The Government Office has just issued a document conveying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's opinion on reviewing the responsibility for the delay in implementing the project to build a plant and animal quarantine station and Long Thanh international airport.

Regarding the review of responsibilities for the delay in implementing the project to build a plant and animal quarantine station and Long Thanh International Airport, phase 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to review and handle responsibilities similar to what the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) had done and reported previously.

The Long Thanh International Airport project includes 4 component projects: component project 1 is the headquarters of state agencies, including: customs, border police, local police, health quarantine (animal/plant), airport authority; component project 2 (works serving flight management); component project 3 (essential works); component project 4 (ground service works).

Information at the meeting on the implementation status of the Long Thanh international airport project held on the morning of January 25, 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector.

For component project 1, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) has not yet allocated capital and has not completed the procedures for approving the investment policy for the animal/plant quarantine agency headquarters.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) and relevant agencies to review, clarify responsibilities and handle officials responsible for the delay in allocating capital for the construction of the animal/plant quarantine station headquarters in component project 1.

At the same time, the Prime Minister requested the ministry to urgently and more strongly implement the project of animal/plant quarantine station headquarters under component project 1 (other agencies have completed it).

Previously, in document No. 1774, the Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Construction to learn from experience in the slow implementation of assigned tasks regarding component project 4, Long Thanh international airport project phase 1.
