Recently, Ha Long City Party Committee organized the Workshop "Developing Ha Long Education in the New Era - The Era of National Growth".
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of Ha Long City Party Committee Vu Quyet Tien affirmed: Ha Long City is the political, economic, cultural and social center of Quang Ninh province, so the city always determines that the development of education and training must come from innovation in thinking, awareness, improving the quality of staff, quality of education and training and facilities, competing to teach well, study well, contributing to training quality human resources right from high school, creating a foundation, high-quality human resources, intelligence, civilization, culture, morality and talent for the city, the province and the country.
Today's scientific conference is a very important activity to thoroughly grasp and concretize the Party's policies in the field of education and training, an important factor for the city and the whole country to enter a new era - the era of national development.
In recent years, the city has paid special attention to education and training. Every year, the city reviews and plans the network of schools, school locations, groups, and classes to ensure quality and meet the requirements of renewing the general education program; focusing resources on investing in facilities and teaching equipment that meet standards, are synchronous, and modern.
Review, plan and arrange managers, teachers and staff suitable for their job positions; focus on innovating teaching methods, strictly implementing the 2018 general education program; focus on traditional education, moral education and life skills training, social issues. Maintain and improve the quality of universal education, illiteracy eradication; stream students after junior high school.

By 2024, the city will achieve universal education for 5-year-old preschool children, universal primary education level 3, universal secondary education level 3, and illiteracy eradication level 2. The rate of primary school students attending 2 sessions/day will reach 100%. Promote the application of information technology in management and teaching; enhance the learning environment, use of foreign languages, information technology; improve the quality of comprehensive education, key education, especially excellent students at national and international levels. By the end of June 2024, the city will have 69 schools meeting national standards; 94.6% of teachers will meet training standards; 28.8% of teachers will have qualifications. Currently, the city has 117 schools with nearly 100,000 students.
In addition, in the area there is also 1 Ha Long Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center, 1 Provincial Vocational Guidance and Continuing Education Center; 165 private independent preschool groups; 5 vocational colleges with city students studying together.
Speaking at the Workshop, Professor, Doctor, Distinguished Teacher Nguyen Quy Thanh, Principal of the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi emphasized: To meet the development requirements of modern education and become a bright spot in education in the new era, the Ha Long education sector needs to continue promoting comprehensive solutions.
These include adjusting school planning in a modern direction, in line with the city's development; expanding connections with prestigious universities at home and abroad; improving the quality and capacity of the teaching staff; and promoting innovation in educational administration to flexibly adapt to digital transformation.
In addition, Ha Long needs to build a system to discover, nurture and make good use of talents, and at the same time implement policies to exempt and reduce tuition fees for policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged people, creating fair learning opportunities for everyone.
In order to open up Ha Long education to approach Green innovation, Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Huu Duc affirmed that green education, or sustainable development education, is increasingly receiving attention globally; it is a breakthrough development in the education system, not only providing knowledge but also training learners to become responsible global citizens, ready to contribute to society and the planet.
This is an important foundation for building a new generation with sustainable, creative thinking, and integration with the world. Combining the trend of green education and innovative education, Vietnam in general and Ha Long in particular need to develop according to the integrated trend - Green innovative education. That is both the goal and the method for education and training to fulfill its mission in the era of national development.
The workshop also listened to the sharing, opinions, ideas, and experiences in education management and training of experts, scientists, and education managers, especially the opinions of experts from Hanoi National University on solutions for developing Ha Long education in the New Era - the Era of national growth.

The opinions presented at the workshop also agreed to evaluate and summarize the practice, analyze deeply to clarify the achievements, draw lessons and recommendations, propose important orientations, goals and solutions in the development of education in Ha Long city.
Through the workshop, the aim is to evaluate and analyze the factors affecting the development of education in Ha Long city, especially the causes of existing problems and limitations that need to be overcome; propose and contribute ideas that are pioneering and breakthrough to develop Ha Long education in the new era - the era of national development, at the same time continue to raise awareness of all levels, sectors and the political system about the importance of education, determined to achieve the goal of striving by 2025, Ha Long city will complete the application to join UNESCO's global learning network.
