About 28,000 liters of hazardous recycled oil were discovered by authorities in Binh Thuan province at an unlicensed facility.
On the evening of June 21, La Gi Town Police (Binh Thuan Province) announced that they had discovered and seized 28,000 liters of illegally recycled hazardous oil at an unlicensed facility in the locality.
Accordingly, the above amount of oil was discovered by the authorities at the headquarters of Scrap Recycling Company Limited in Phuoc Tien village, Tan Phuoc commune (La Gi town), owned by Mr. NQQ (born in 1988, residing in Phuoc Hoi ward, La Gi town). Of this amount, there were 12,000 liters of untreated waste oil in 4 metal barrels; 13,000 liters of treated, distilled oil, stored in plastic drums (capacity of 1,000 liters/barrel) and 3,000 liters of waste oil being cooked and distilled by the facility.
In addition, La Gi town police seized 130 more blue plastic barrels with the words H2SO4 98 % printed on the outside, along with many tools and equipment for recycling waste oil.
Through investigation, the owner of the facility said that the waste oil was purchased from motorbike repair shops, garages, car maintenance and repair centers, etc. in the surrounding areas. Then, the waste oil was transported to the above location for re-distillation.
This person also admitted that the facility's waste oil recycling activities were organized by himself, without permission from the competent authority to collect and treat hazardous waste, without relevant legal documents and environmental protection documents as prescribed.
