The North-South high-speed railway passes through 20 provinces and cities, connecting from Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi) to Thu Thiem station (HCMC).

The North-South high-speed railway project, the section passing through Binh Thuan province, is about 156km long and passes through 5 districts: Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam and Ham Tan.

On the planned route, there are two passenger stations: Phan Ri station located in Phan Hoa commune (Bac Binh district) and Phan Thiet station located in Ham Hiep commune (Ham Thuan Bac district).

The provincial planning has updated the route and station plan of the project. Updated the new route plan connecting from Phan Thiet city center to Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway passing through Phan Thiet station of the project.

Currently, the Department of Planning and Investment is advising and proposing to the Provincial People's Committee to assign a unit to research and propose an investment policy for the above connecting road project.

At the same time, assign tasks to relevant departments, branches and localities to deploy updating connecting routes, stations, maintenance stations of the project and TOD urban area (urban development oriented towards public transport) into district planning and land use plans.

According to the Department of Transport, after the Provincial People's Committee reviewed the route and station section passing through the province, the Ministry of Transport accepted the province's proposal to move Muong Man station to a new location about 4km north of the old location (Phan Thiet station).

Regarding Phan Ri station located in Phan Hoa commune, Bac Binh district, in November 2024, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected the actual location of the station. At the same time, he requested the consulting unit to coordinate with relevant units to develop a planning plan to connect with the station in Bac Binh district.

Regarding site clearance, the Ministry of Transport is implementing procedures to prepare a project feasibility study report.

Immediately after the project is approved by the competent authority, the Provincial People's Committee will assign tasks to departments, branches and localities where the project passes through to carry out project site clearance work according to regulations.

In December 2024, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 on the investment policy for the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis. The project has a total route length of about 1,541 km; the starting point is at Ngoc Hoi Station (Hanoi Capital), the ending point is at Thu Thiem Station (Ho Chi Minh City), passing through 20 provinces and centrally-run cities.
