In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang expressed his gratitude to all union members and workers across the country, who have been enthusiastically working and actively contributing to the implementation of tasks of agencies, units, localities and sectors, making an important contribution to the cause of national construction and development.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized: “In 2023, in the context of many difficulties, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, the Fatherland Front, all levels and sectors have coordinated with the Trade Union to issue and implement many support policies, organize activities, contribute to creating jobs, improving working conditions, increasing income, and comprehensively caring for the material and spiritual life of workers and laborers”.

According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the situation of occupational accidents and diseases continues to be controlled; more and more typical examples and models of occupational safety and hygiene appear. Many enterprises have paid attention to investing in ensuring occupational safety and hygiene, millions of workers have actively participated in emulation movements on occupational safety and hygiene, hundreds of thousands of initiatives and preventive solutions in the field of occupational safety and hygiene have been implemented, bringing about good effects.

Also at the ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang also requested all levels, sectors, and enterprises to coordinate with the Trade Union organization and the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs sector (LĐ-TB&XH) to well organize activities in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene - Workers' Month 2024, actively concretizing the theme "Strengthening occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in the supply chain" and "Worker solidarity - Implementing the resolution" according to the plan of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

At the same time, workers, civil servants, public employees, and laborers in each agency, unit, and enterprise need to promote intelligence, initiative, creativity, and compete in labor and production, contributing to the completion of the goals and tasks of the agency, unit, and enterprise, accompanying and sticking with the Vietnam Trade Union organization, and actively contributing to the cause of national construction and development.

“The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that businesses will always respect and care about investing in building human resources, sharing achievements with workers to nurture valuable capital, a pioneering force, directly in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country,” said Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded 8 gifts to workers who suffered from work-related accidents and occupational diseases, each gift including 5 million VND in cash and 500,000 VND in kind.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives with outstanding achievements in occupational safety and hygiene; the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded Emulation Flags to 5 collectives with outstanding achievements in the movement "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene".

Strengthening occupational safety and health assurance in the workplace and in the supply chain

The theme of the 2024 OSH Action Month is “Strengthening OSH assurance at the workplace and in the supply chain”. Accordingly, during the Action Month, many activities will take place nationwide, such as: Dialogue of the national and provincial councils on OSH; visiting victims of occupational accidents and diseases; organizing inspection and self-inspection activities at enterprises and employers, organizing OSH service activities; strengthening information and propaganda activities on OSH, etc.
