Celebrating 75 years of Vietnam - Russian Federation diplomatic relations: continuing the history of friendship

Attending the reception were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense; and leaders of a number of ministries, departments and branches.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that on January 30, 1950, the Soviet Union (formerly, the Russian Federation today) was one of the first countries in the world to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Over the past 75 years, the two countries have experienced many ups and downs, but with a diplomatic policy stemming from a sincere heart, Vietnam and the Soviet Union have always stood side by side, as close, loyal, respectful, understanding and mutually supportive friends.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam will never forget the wholehearted support of the Soviet Union and Russian people in the liberation of the South, the reunification of the country, as well as in the cause of protecting, building and developing the country. Inheriting the tradition of good relations nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries over the past 75 years, the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation continue to achieve many positive results, worthy of the glorious history of relations between the two countries, providing the luggage for the two countries to enter a new era, meeting the requirements of the times.

The political relations between the two countries have a high level of trust, with delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at the highest level, through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, and people. The common agreements reached through high-level visits and contacts not only play a leading role, providing strategic direction for the development direction of Vietnam - Russian Federation relations in the coming time, but also serve as a compass to bring bilateral cooperation into depth and substance.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that with the solidarity, closeness and close cooperation nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries, steadfast in the face of all changes of the times, the people of Vietnam and Russia believe and hope that 2025 will be an important milestone in the new and increasingly good development period of the relationship between the two countries. Vietnam and the Russian Federation will continue to write new pages together for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, meeting the interests and aspirations of both peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

According to Ambassador Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, over the past three-quarters of a century, Russia-Vietnam relations have come a long way, and the people of the two countries have stood side by side in the most difficult times. The Ambassador affirmed that it is the love and sincere friendship between the two countries and their peoples that have created a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation to develop more and more deeply in all fields. Continuing to strongly consolidate the traditional friendship between Russia and Vietnam aims to meet the aspirations of the people of the two countries, as well as for peace, security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
