Proud of the tradition of Ham Rong Power Plant, continuing the development journey

The victory of Ham Rong has inspired the people and army of the whole country, becoming a symbol of revolutionary heroism in the Ho Chi Minh era, typical of the People's War, under the leadership of the Party. In that victory, we cannot fail to mention the role of Ham Rong Power Plant - the energy heart of Thanh Hoa province at that time.

Ham Rong Power Plant - Resilient amidst bombs and bullets

Ham Rong Power Plant was started in 1959 with the support of Hungary and put into operation on April 4, 1964. With a capacity of 3,000 kW, this was one of the largest industrial projects in Thanh Hoa at that time, playing a key role in providing electricity to the region.

When the US Air Force launched a campaign to attack Ham Rong Bridge, the factory became one of the most fiercely attacked targets, suffering more than 97 bombings from 1965 to 1971. However, with the spirit of "As long as the electrician's heart beats, the electricity will never stop", the factory's staff and workers steadfastly held on, ensuring that the electricity was not interrupted. They both operated production and directly participated in combat, along with the army and people of Thanh Hoa to protect the power system.

Despite suffering many losses, with the construction destroyed and 3 heroic workers sacrificed, the steel spirit of Ham Rong electricians remained undaunted.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chuyen, a former worker at Ham Rong Power Plant, now 85 years old, tearfully recalled: From 1965 to 1971, the American invaders frantically attacked Ham Rong Bridge and the power plant. At that time, we, the workers, were both enthusiastically working and mentally preparing for battle. When the battle broke out, we did not have time to think about ourselves, we only knew how to maintain the electricity, while repairing the power grid, the factory workers used rifles with the local people to defend themselves and shoot back enemy planes. There were days when the factory was hit, smoke and fire filled the air, but we were still determined "as long as there are people, machines, and electricity". During those battles, 3 workers of the factory heroically sacrificed themselves... but the spirit of "maintaining electricity like maintaining lifeblood" continues to spread to future generations.

The electricity system in Thanh Hoa province is increasingly modern, meeting the development needs of the locality.

Journey of innovation and development

After more than 60 years of development, from a small capacity factory destroyed by bombs, today, PC Thanh Hoa has become one of the key units of the Vietnamese electricity industry in general and the Northern Power Corporation in particular.

Currently, the unit is managing and operating 30 transformer stations, 48 ​​110kV transformers with a total capacity of 2,144 MVA, along with thousands of kilometers of medium and low voltage lines, serving more than 856,570 customers in the province.

In 2024, the Company's commercial electricity output will reach over 7,900 million kWh, an increase of more than 10% compared to 2023. The total grid power loss rate will decrease to 3.91%, marking an important step forward in improving operational efficiency and quality of electricity supply.

With its continuous efforts, the unit has been awarded the First Class Independence Medal, the First Class Labor Medal and many other noble awards by the Party and State. Inheriting and promoting that precious tradition, the collective leadership, cadres, workers and employees of Thanh Hoa Power Company continue to innovate, constantly create, improve expertise and professionalism, wholeheartedly serve the people, bringing the electricity industry of Thanh Hoa to increasingly sustainable development.

Continuing the path of sustainable development

Inheriting traditional values, today, PC Thanh Hoa's staff always remember the great sacrifices of the previous generation, constantly studying, practicing, improving professional capacity, innovating, applying technology... ensuring safe and stable power supply to serve the people, and at the same time doing many practical things to show gratitude to those who have devoted themselves to the homeland and country.

Entering the digital age, Thanh Hoa PC has implemented grid modernization such as: Investing in SCADA systems to improve operational efficiency; building unmanned 110kV substations, repairing hotline electricity, applying electronic metering technology, developing online electricity services to increase transparency and convenience for customers. These innovations not only improve management efficiency but also contribute to the goal of building a smart grid and modernizing the national electricity sector.

Over the years, along with production and business tasks, Thanh Hoa Electricity Company has also actively participated in community activities.

In addition to production and business tasks, PC Thanh Hoa actively fulfills its responsibility to the community through many social security programs such as: Visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, policy households, households in difficult circumstances, sponsoring rural lighting systems, organizing volunteer activities... These contributions not only help improve the quality of life but also build the image of a business closely connected to the community.

By 2030, Thanh Hoa PC aims to develop sustainably, expand power grid infrastructure, ensure stable power supply for industrial parks, urban areas and rural areas, promote digitalization, perfect smart power systems, improve customer service quality...
