Bringing electricity to disadvantaged areas has contributed to changing the face of rural areas, improving people's lives, and at the same time being a driving force for socio-economic development. Five years ago, electricity was still a dream for people in Ho area, Yen Son commune, Thanh Son district.
Thanks to the program of bringing electricity to the countryside, the people here have risen up to develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Behind the new appearance of Ho area is the tireless efforts of electricians.
The life of Mr. Dang Van Nguyen's family - a resident of Ho area - has also changed a lot. With the national grid, he has been able to buy many household appliances to serve his daily life and expand his knowledge. Not only is it convenient for daily life, but the grid also helps people here develop their economy.
The electricity source is stable so people have bought many appliances to serve their daily life.
Mr. Nguyen excitedly expressed: “ Before there was no electricity, we could not use machines and had to do everything manually. Now that there is electricity, it is like having the light of civilization. We can access science and technology through audio-visual equipment; use electricity in production .”
In the mountainous district of Thanh Son, due to the isolated, rugged terrain and difficult transportation, the national grid coverage to remote residential areas requires great efforts from the electricity sector. The project "Rural electricity supply from the national grid, phase 2016 - 2020" implemented by the Northern Power Corporation and Phu Tho province has contributed significantly to bringing light to the villages.
Since the national grid was installed, teachers and students at the kindergarten and primary school in Ho area have been able to study via the internet thanks to the computer system. Winters have become warmer and summers cooler since the electricity was installed. Thanks to that, teaching and learning here have also been improved, and the quality of education has improved a lot.

Teacher Dang Quyet Chi - a teacher who has been attached to the remote location in Ho area shared: " Thanks to electricity, teaching work is more convenient, the school has guaranteed light, and in the summer students have fans to cool down. From a province with a low rate of rural households using electricity, up to now, 100% of residential areas have electricity and rural households use the national grid as a result of the Rural Electrification program implemented by Phu Tho Electricity Company for many years.
Especially for districts with a population mainly of ethnic minorities, developing a rural electricity system not only helps improve life but also connects ethnic groups and ensures national security and defense.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of Yen Son Commune People's Committee, Thanh Son District added: " By 2018, 100% of residential areas in the commune had access to the national grid. People bought televisions, refrigerators, and mass media to learn, expand their knowledge, and learn more about livestock farming, farming, and business experiences from other localities. This is one of the driving forces to help people develop the economy and improve their social life ."
In addition, in order for households to enjoy the Government's electricity price, Phu Tho Electricity Company also takes over the rural low-voltage grid to sell electricity directly to each household. After taking over the low-voltage grid of the communes, Phu Tho Electricity Company and other units have plans to repair, renovate, upgrade and expand the grid to operate safely, providing stable and continuous electricity to households with an average minimum renovation cost of 1.2 - 1.5 billion VND/commune.
6 years ago, in Van Mieu commune, Thanh Son district, in many residential areas, the power grid system was not yet developed. After the electricity industry received and invested in upgrading, the number of transformer stations was increased from 8 stations to 13 stations, the power grid in the area was renovated, households were provided with stable and safe electricity.
Mr. Dinh Cong Thuan - an employee at an auto repair shop clearly sees this change. Mr. Thuan shared: " Before, we could only work during off-peak times, we couldn't work during peak times. Customers had to wait a long time. But now it's comfortable, the electricity is very stable ."
Mr. Ha Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Mieu Commune, Thanh Son District said: " Since 2017, when the Electricity sector received the power grid from the electricity service cooperative, many transformer stations and infrastructure institutions of the Electricity sector have also been invested. Thanks to that, it has had a great impact on economic development in this area ."
"Paddy fields, rice houses", new economic models, highly effective in the countryside are also partly thanks to the national electricity. With electricity, people can live right in the place where they were born and raised without having to go far to work.
In the coming time, Phu Tho Electricity Company will continue to bring electricity to communes, villages, hamlets and households without stable power sources, along with continuing to improve the supply capacity and ensure the quality of electricity to serve the conversion and development of new models in agricultural production; implementing the new rural program of the Party and Government by investing in upgrading and renovating the medium and low voltage grid, helping to improve service quality and reduce power loss.
