On the afternoon of May 20, at the 7th Session, the 15th National Assembly elected Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and deputy of the 15th National Assembly to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

At the meeting, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong presented the draft Resolution of the National Assembly on the election of Mr. Tran Thanh Man as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.
After listening to the Vote Counting Committee announce the vote counting results, the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term by electronic voting. The electronic voting results showed that 475/475 delegates participated in the vote, accounting for 100% of the total number of National Assembly delegates present in favor.
Immediately afterwards, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man performed the oath of office ceremony.
In the presence of the National Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man swore: "Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and voters nationwide, I - Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; strive to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People".
In his inaugural speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the XV National Assembly deputies for their trust in electing him to the position of National Assembly Chairman. He also expressed his respect and infinite gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh; and expressed gratitude to the previous leaders, revolutionary veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the armed forces, heroes of labor; families of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the country.
The National Assembly Chairman also expressed his gratitude for the correct and close leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; and sincerely thanked the National Assembly deputies, compatriots, voters nationwide and overseas Vietnamese; countries, organizations, individuals and international friends who have helped and shared so that our country Vietnam has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.
Emphasizing that this is a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility before the Party, the State and the People, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that he always deeply understands that: No matter what position he holds, he must always adhere to the goal of national independence and socialism; creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; adhere to the Party's innovation policy; ensure the highest national and ethnic interests and the legitimate rights, interests and aspirations of the People. Firmly grasp and seriously implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; be steadfast, consistent and uphold the Party's working principles and laws in the face of new difficulties and challenges of the country. Regularly cultivate, train and improve revolutionary ethics; seriously self-reflect, self-correct, self-criticize and criticize; be exemplary in ethics and lifestyle in work as well as in personal and family life.
Proud of the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, heroic Vietnamese people; expecting the future development of the country, to meet the requirements and tasks in the new period, the National Assembly Chairman determined to make the greatest efforts and determination to join the entire Party, people and army to successfully achieve the goal of building a prosperous, civilized country, with a prosperous and happy people.
At the same time, affirming the will to devote all of oneself to serving the Fatherland and the People; together with the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly deputies, continue to innovate, improve the quality and effectiveness of activities in both legislative work, supreme supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; continue to strengthen the National Assembly's foreign affairs along with the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy; promote democracy, solidarity, publicity, transparency and professionalism, contributing to building a truly socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people and for the people.
