Celebrating the 66th anniversary of Border Guard Traditional Day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of People's Border Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2025)
(QBĐT) - The national border is sacred, inviolable, and has a particularly important strategic position in terms of economy, politics, society, national defense, security, and foreign affairs. Along with the growth of the Border Guard force (BĐBP) nationwide, the BĐBP of Quang Binh province is always steadfast on two fronts, both firmly protecting the sovereignty of the national border and effectively participating in socio-economic development, helping people build a new life in the border area (KVBG)... On these two fronts, the BĐBP of the province has contributed many achievements to the golden history of 66 years of building, fighting, and growing.
Quang Binh province has a land border of over 222km with 61 border markers and 1 border post bordering Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces (Laos). The coastline is over 116km long, with a sea area of about 10,372km2. The border area of the province includes 244 villages, hamlets, and residential groups in 28 communes and wards, including 9 land border communes and 19 sea border communes and wards. The population of the border area includes 51,447 households and 210,262 people, of which 5,155 households and 22,204 people are ethnic minorities.
The Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard has been assigned by the Party and State to be the core and specialized force in performing the task of managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security. In recent times, the Provincial Border Guard has strictly implemented border management agreements and regulations; increased patrols and controls to protect the status quo of the border system and border markers with the strong participation of provincial leaders, departments, branches, local Party committees and authorities at all levels, and border protection forces on the opposite side of Laos.

The work of organizing unilateral patrols to protect the border and landmarks was deployed in 770 rounds with 4,286 officers and soldiers and 593 militia, police, rangers, commune leaders and people participating; 75 bilateral patrols with 923 officers and soldiers and 36 local leaders participating; 1,360 coastal patrols with 6,362 officers and soldiers participating; 140 patrols to protect the sea area combined with monitoring fishing activities with 208 vehicles and 1,355 officers and soldiers participating...
The provincial Border Guard proactively and actively coordinated with departments, branches, sectors and localities to advise the provincial People's Committee to direct and successfully organize activities to sign agreements on residential clusters on both sides of the border, building a peaceful, friendly and cooperative border area for mutual development: Twinning between Dan Hoa commune (Minh Hoa) and Lang Khang hamlet cluster, between Thuong Trach commune (Bo Trach) and Noong Ma hamlet cluster, both in Bua-La-Pha district (Kham Muon).
From the signing ceremony, the Provincial Border Guard Command mobilized resources to support the people of the two twinned villages with 2 "Border Light" projects, 1 "Border Welcome Gate" project, 2 "Remote Village Loudspeaker Cluster" projects; presented 1,990 gifts, 2 medical cabinets; provided health check-ups, consultations and free medicine to more than 600 people. The total value of the gifts was over 2,577 million VND.
The provincial Border Guard deployed synchronously and flexibly professional measures, grasped and grasped early the situation of criminal activities, presided over and coordinated the detection, arrest and handling of 2,234 cases with 2,586 subjects, seized nearly 647 kg of synthetic drugs, more than 13 kg of heroin, 20.2 kg of cocaine, 39 kg of marijuana, 5 guns, 1,348 kg of various types of firecrackers, 412 kg of explosives, 251 m3 of various types of wood, and 11,000 liters of DO oil.
Presided over the establishment and successful fight against 24 special projects, 28 professional plans; coordinated the successful fight against 5 special projects; prosecuted 75 criminal cases including 86 subjects; handled 1,024 administrative violations, 1,205 subjects and 1 organization. Propagandized and mobilized people to hand over 144 guns of various types, 1,442 bullets, 48kg of various types of fireworks; 69kg of explosives; 4 bombs, 140 bullets, 18 detonators, 14 knives, swords, machetes...
From 2020 to present, Quang Binh Border Guard has always been proactive and responsible in participating in socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction in border areas, mountainous areas, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas. Through many effective models, projects and activities, such as: "Border light", "Border loudspeaker", "Remote village radio", "Border machine sound", "Border well", "Border welcome gate", "Community sanitation works"; "Saturday to the village", "Helping children go to school and adopted children of Border Guard stations", "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school", "Border Spring - Warming the hearts of villagers", "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" ... have brought positive effects and strong spread in the border areas.

The provincial Border Guard deployed more than 22,500 working days to effectively maintain models to help people develop socio-economy; completed more than 200 "Great Unity" houses, shelters for the poor in border areas; 116 "Border Light" projects; 25 "Border Wells" projects; 36 "Remote Village Broadcasting" projects; 48 "Community Toilets" projects; 26 "Border Welcome Gates" projects; 58 "Border Machine Sounds" models; received support and assistance for 1 commune and 12 disadvantaged villages and hamlets to build new rural areas; adopted 160 students under the program "Helping Children Go to School - Adopted Children of Border Guard Stations"; supported 250 children under the project "Army Officers and Soldiers Help Children Go to School".
In the period of 2020-2025, the Provincial Border Guard coordinated to organize 75 programs "Spring Border Guard - Warming the hearts of the villagers". Through the program's activities, the Provincial Border Guard mobilized resources to donate 54 "Great Unity" houses, shelters of love; 20,517 gifts, 3,347 pairs of banh chung; examined and provided free medicine to more than 32,500 people; donated many civil works, many livelihood models... with a total value of over 24.5 billion VND.
In the coming time, the world and regional situation is forecasted to continue to have many complex and unpredictable developments. The activities of hostile forces, criminals, especially drug-related crimes, have a great impact on the tasks of military work, border protection, and protection of sovereignty and security on the two borders.
| To successfully implement the goals of the two political tasks of the provincial Border Guard force, entering 2025, the Provincial Border Guard Command determined: Focus on successfully organizing Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term. Effectively participating in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, the Provincial Border Guard Command resolutely led and directed the entire force to deploy and assign targets to grassroots units to register to receive support to build 5 or more houses. Up to now, units under the Provincial Border Guard have registered to deploy and receive support for 93 households to build new and renovate houses. |
Proactively grasping the situation early and from afar, the Provincial Party Committee and Border Guard Command identified a number of key tasks, namely: Continuing to thoroughly grasp the Party's viewpoints, guidelines, and policies, the State's policies and laws on military, national defense, and border tasks in the new situation; comprehensively and synchronously deploying management measures, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, national border security, and the national border marker system; strictly maintaining combat readiness, protecting border safety, areas, and units.
The entire provincial Border Guard force effectively implemented the fight against crimes, especially crimes involving drugs, explosives, firecrackers, forest and mineral exploitation, illegal immigration, smuggling, and trade fraud; advised on effective and timely resolution of issues related to national security, rural security, and religious security; improved the quality of border diplomacy and people's diplomacy; promoted propaganda and mobilization of people in border areas to properly implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws.
At the same time, actively advise on building and consolidating political bases, helping people develop socio-economy, sustainably reduce poverty, and build new rural areas in the border area with specific, practical, and effective actions.
