Agriculture, forestry and fishery trade surplus of over 43 billion USD

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in October, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports were estimated at 4.81 billion USD, up 7.43% compared to September 2023 and up 11.9% compared to October 2022.

Of which, agricultural products reached 2.47 billion USD, up 31.1% compared to October 2022; livestock 40 million USD, up 6%; forestry products 1.28 billion USD, down 0.2%; aquatic products 850 million USD, down 5.9%.

Due to the sharp decline in export value of some key export items, the total export turnover in October is estimated to decrease by 4.2% compared to the same period last year. Of which, the aquatic products group reached 7.45 billion USD, down 20.5%; forestry products 11.65 billion USD, down 19.3%...

The average export price of some major agricultural products still decreased, such as: Rubber decreased by 17.3%, cashew nuts decreased by 5%, pepper decreased by 23.4%, cassava and cassava products decreased by 3.3%...

The value of agricultural and livestock products increased. Specifically, agricultural products reached 21.94 billion USD, up 17% (contributed by the export value of vegetables and fruits at 4.91 billion USD, up 78.9%; rice at 3.97 billion USD, up 34.9%; cashew nuts at 2.92 billion USD, up 14.8%) and livestock products at 402 million USD, up 22%.

Regarding the market, in the past 10 months, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to markets in Asia increased by 5.7%, Africa increased by 21.6%; while other regions all decreased: America decreased by 20.6%; Europe decreased by 11.8%; Oceania decreased by 17.2%.

China, the US and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products. Export value to China accounted for 22.8%, up 16.2% over the same period; the US accounted for 20.6%, down 20.8% and Japan accounted for 7.5%, down 8.5%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in October, the domestic commodity market remained stable, supply was guaranteed, and prices did not fluctuate abnormally. In particular, rice prices tended to increase.

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta increased again by 300 - 600 VND/kg. Pig prices decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg due to reduced consumption. Raw tiger shrimp prices decreased by 20,000 VND/kg. Raw pangasius prices did not fluctuate much from 27,000 - 33,000 VND/kg...

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that it will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to closely monitor and promptly report to the Price Management Steering Committee and the Domestic Market Management Team on the production situation, supply of agricultural products in harvest season, price fluctuations, especially those items that are greatly affected by the world market such as rice.

At the same time, the Ministry continues to implement Directive No. 24/CT-TTg dated August 5, 2023 of the Prime Minister on ensuring national food security and promoting sustainable rice production and export in the current period.

The Ministry directed specialized units to guide localities to regulate production plans, promote exports; negotiate to handle technical barriers, and expand export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

To promote the development of domestic consumption and export markets, the industry continues to address market issues to facilitate the export of agricultural and aquatic products, especially to the markets of China, the US, the EU, the Eurasian Economic Union, etc. The Ministry coordinates to support the protection of trademarks and geographical indications for potential Vietnamese export products abroad.
