2023 is the year when the two sides achieved many important results in all areas of cooperation, especially in trade and tourism activities. Specifically, the two sides signed a total of 7 memorandums of understanding and agreements on issues such as building a peaceful border and establishing a friendly exchange mechanism between Mong Cai City Party Committee (Vietnam) and Dongxing City Party Committee (China).

The two localities periodically hold talks, promptly discuss and coordinate to resolve issues related to customs clearance of goods and entry and exit at the Mong Cai - Dong Hung International Border Gate pair, restore comprehensive exchange and cooperation activities, and successfully organize the 15th Vietnam - China International Tourism Trade Fair in 2023 in Mong Cai (a bridge for businesses on both sides to seek joint venture partners, expand markets and invest).
The two localities are making efforts to promote cultural and tourism integration, building a Vietnam-China border tourism belt through a number of activities to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges such as organizing Tet Nguyen Tieu football matches between the two countries' youth, the Border Arts Night program, Singing on the Vietnam-China border river, and a cross-border friendship run, etc.
In December 2023, Mong Cai and Dongxing successfully organized a Forum to promote border tourism activities through the international border gates of Mong Cai (Vietnam) and Dongxing (China).
This is a meaningful event aimed at expanding cooperation relations, promoting border tourism activities, creating opportunities and conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to cooperate, promote, and expand the tourism market to provinces and coastal regions of China.
Chairman of Mong Cai City People's Committee Ho Quang Huy affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong and previous leaders of the two countries, is a valuable asset of the two Parties, two States and two peoples that must always be preserved and promoted.
In recent years, Mong Cai's economy has grown, society has stabilized, people's lives have improved, and foreign affairs have been constantly strengthened and expanded.
To achieve important results in socio-economic development, in addition to favorable conditions in terms of policies and mechanisms of the Party and State, the spirit of solidarity, innovation, breakthrough in thinking, creative ways of leading, directing and implementing tasks of the city's Party Committee and government, the solidarity and efforts of the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Mong Cai city, there is also the comprehensive coordination and cooperation of Dongxing city (China).
Recently, at the meeting to celebrate the New Year of Giap Thin 2024 between the delegations of the two sides, held on January 17, in Dongxing City (China), on behalf of the Party, Government and people of Dongxing City, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Mayor of the People's Government of the City Ly Kien expressed his joy at the results achieved in the bilateral cooperation relationship between the two localities of Mong Cai - Dongxing in particular and the two countries of Vietnam - China in general in the past time.
Mr. Ly Kiet affirmed that over the past years, the close friendship between Mong Cai and Dong Hung has maintained a stable development momentum, achieving many important results in cooperation fields such as: trade, economy, tourism, culture, sports...
Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Mong Cai City Ho Quang Huy affirmed that in 2023, with the spirit of continuous efforts, the Party Committee, government and people of the city have achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Mong Cai City hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to expand exchanges and close friendly cooperation in many fields to achieve new progress, promote common development and bring practical benefits to people in the two border areas.
