Early morning of May 30, a fire broke out at a 3-storey rented house in Phu Luong ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi.

Police confirmed that 9 people escaped the fire. Of these, 2 were rescued by local residents and 3 were rescued by police. 4 people escaped on their own through the fire escape to the house next door.

Seeing two arms reaching out, he immediately grabbed the lightning protection wire, climbed over the wall and saved the person.

On the same day, social media spread a clip of a man climbing a ladder, reaching the third floor of a burning house to carry a victim out.

According to Tuoi Tre Online 's investigation, the "hero" in the above video is Leng Van Bang (born in 1985).

That morning, Mr. Bang was on his way home after finishing his night shift. Discovering a column of black smoke coming from the alley, he parked his car, drove to the scene and saw a fire. In front of the man at this time were two girls standing and calling for help on the third floor of the house.

At this time at the scene, the fire broke out very quickly from the first floor, the black smoke column rose tens of meters high, almost "swallowing" the entire house.

Without thinking much, the man grabbed onto the lightning protection wire to climb up. With one hand he held onto the wire, and with the other hand he used a rock to break the railing of the third floor of the house. "I hit with all my might to create a gap for the two girls to escape," he said.

After climbing up twice, the man carried the two girls down to the roof of the house next door, then other people helped bring them down to the ground safely.

When the police arrived and rescued the remaining people, Mr. Bang left the scene. No one knew the identity of the hero who saved the people.

"My hand was just slightly burned, it's okay," he told Tuoi Tre Online nearly half a day after the incident.

When he learned that the clip of him saving people was going viral, Mr. Bang still quietly continued his daily work. He said, "I just want to save people, that's the happiest thing."

"I don't want to be a hero, the most important thing is to save people," the man said and continued with his daily work.

At about 5:30 a.m. on May 30, a fire broke out at a motel in Phu Luong ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi.

Upon receiving the fire alarm, Hanoi Police dispatched 5 fire trucks and dozens of police officers to the scene.

The house that caught fire was 3 stories high, a combination of a residential house and a rental house. The fire spread over an area of about 20 square meters . A column of black smoke from the fire rose quickly, engulfing the house.

After about 3 minutes of fighting the fire, the police were able to control the fire. Ha Dong District Police said that 9 people escaped the fire. Of these, 2 were rescued by local residents and 3 were rescued by police.
