On March 2, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Border Guard Command of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Can Gio District organized the National Border Guard Day and disseminated information about the border and island situation.
The activity aims to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Border Guard Traditional Day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2025); the 36th anniversary of "People's Border Guard Day" (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2025); the 1985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising and the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2025).
The festival also aims to raise awareness, sense of responsibility, role, and political determination of Party committees at all levels, authorities, socio-political organizations, forces, and people of all walks of life in the city in building, managing, and protecting sovereignty, security of the city's sea borders, and port gates.
At the same time, it is also an opportunity for the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee and the City Border Guard to organize activities to care for the material and spiritual life of officers, soldiers and families in difficult circumstances in the area.
Speaking at the festival, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the coordination between the Border Guard and functional departments and branches, especially the Fatherland Front at all levels in promoting the combined strength, building a national border defense associated with a solid national border defense posture and a solid people's security posture.
Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee has implemented many exciting cultural and sports activities, such as: propaganda about the border and island situation; exchange of outstanding female officers of the Front with officers and soldiers of Border Guard and Navy Region 2.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented funding for the construction of the following items: Truong Sa landmark, Border landmark, relief background of Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space of the City Border Guard Command at Squadron 2; Supported funding for repairing 8 houses and awarded 43 means of livelihood to households, officers and soldiers in difficult circumstances in the coastal border area of Can Gio district; awarded 56 scholarships to students in the program "Helping children go to school";...
Notably, the programs visited and presented gifts to 23 "Self-managed security and order teams" and 15 "Self-managed safety teams for ships and boats", and self-managed ferry terminals, with a total estimated cost of more than 2.1 billion VND.
