At the project to dredge the Bo De canal, a branch of the Doi canal (District 8), Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong joined young people. This is also an activity of Green Sunday 156 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The motto is to improve as we go along, not letting pollution recur. Do a good job of calling on local people and youth to join hands to maintain the status quo after improving sanitation and cleaning the environment.

Mr. NGO MINH HAI

Persistently protect the environment on Green Sunday

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai said that Green Sunday is a meaningful initiative of the city's youth. The implementation forms are diverse but practical and extremely close, such as planting trees, improving the flow of canals. Thereby contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection, at the same time gradually applying technology to environmental management.

These activities have gradually become familiar to the youth and residents of the city named after Uncle Ho. "This is a testament to the sense of responsibility and solidarity of the youth and residents in building a clean, green and friendly living environment, raising public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment," said Mr. Hai.

At the place chosen as a city-level point in District 8, young people collected garbage, dredged the flow, cleaned the canal banks as well as renovated the green park, and propagated people not to litter in canals and ditches.

Along with that, young people mobilized people living along the canals to relocate within the scope of the project to renovate the north bank of the Doi canal, helping to speed up the project's progress and spread the spirit of responsibility for environmental protection.

Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union noted that the grassroots should focus on "Green Environment - Green Lifestyle" activities to promote expertise in environmental sanitation and landscape improvement. Focus on canals and ditches to effectively implement the project "Saigon River - the river of my city" which is identified as a key project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of the city's youth.

Mr. Hai called on the Youth Union at all levels to continue to do well the campaign "Ho Chi Minh City residents do not litter on the streets and canals for a clean, green and environmentally friendly city" and the "Green Living" movement launched by the City Youth Union.

"How to invite people, volunteers and clubs, teams and environmental volunteer groups in the city to participate, take advantage of expertise to join hands to build the city into a green urban area," said Mr. Hai.

Act for yourself and the next generation

Representing the people of District 8, Mr. Le Hong Huynh said he was very happy to see many practical activities, not only young people but also many elderly people enthusiastically participating in keeping the environment clean. It is also a beautiful image of solidarity and he hopes that not only Green Sunday but environmental protection activities will become a daily habit of everyone.

"Small actions will contribute to creating big changes. Protecting the environment today is essentially acting for the health and future of future generations," Mr. Huynh said.

Sweating while raking trash from the canal, Nguyen Thi Thuy Tram (Saigon University) said that this was her first time participating in this job and she felt happy because she could contribute a little to a meaningful activity.

Phan Viet Quang (23 years old, in District 8) said: "I have participated in dredging canals many times through the Green Summer campaign. It's a bit hard, but seeing the environment improve makes me happy. I just hope everyone is more aware of protecting the environment."

Meanwhile, student Huynh Gia Huy (grade 10, Nguyen Van Linh High School) participated in communication activities on waste classification and environmental protection. He said that when participating in these activities, he encouraged his family to classify waste, especially collecting old batteries to exchange for trees instead of throwing them in the trash.

Huy also participates in activities at markets, apartments, schools, and community communications about environmental protection for our health and future generations.

"3 links" motto

Activities are guaranteed to follow the motto "3 links" (force - locality - community) so that projects and tasks are practical, effective, meet needs and solve difficult environmental problems, and improve local and unit landscapes.

At the same time, we should advise well with the Party committees and authorities as well as take advantage of the cooperation with relevant agencies to further improve the contents and activities to participate in protecting and improving the environmental landscape.
