Dienbien.gov.vn – On the morning of March 26, in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province was honored to host the 21st Conference on drug crime prevention and control across the border between 8 provinces: Phong Sa Ly, Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, Luang Prabang - Lao PDR and Dien Bien, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Son La - Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2025.

Signing of memorandum of understanding on drug prevention and control work between 8 provinces

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang emphasized: The conference is an opportunity for us to evaluate the results achieved, frankly acknowledge the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties and obstacles; on that basis, propose solutions and directions for cooperation in the coming time to further improve the effectiveness of drug prevention and control work on the Vietnam - Laos border. Thereby, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and sustainable Vietnam - Laos border.

Comrade Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered the opening speech at the conference.

After the 20th Conference in 2024 in Luang Prabang province - Lao PDR between 8 provinces. Provincial Party Committees and authorities have directed all levels and sectors to step up propaganda, education and mobilization work, especially ethnic minorities in border areas, to actively participate in the fight against drug crimes, denounce crimes, and help functional forces arrest drug criminals. In 2024, more than 19,620 news, articles and reports on drug prevention and control were organized and broadcast on loudspeakers, television and cyberspace; more than 16,500 mobile propaganda and dissemination of laws on drug prevention and control, the harmful effects of drugs and mobilize people to actively participate in preventing, fighting and denouncing crimes and drug evils with more than 646,000 participants; Organized the printing and distribution of 30,900 leaflets, billboards, posters, and banners; distributed 400 handbooks and 300 pens with propaganda content on drug prevention and control; shared more than 2,358 news and articles, uploaded more than 875 videos with propaganda content on drug prevention and control on Facebook fanpages and YouTube channels of provincial television stations. In border communes, organized the broadcasting of 652 news and articles on television and radio systems, 2,114 mobile propaganda sessions in communes, selected 69 typical drug cases for mobile trials...

At the meeting, delegates seriously evaluated the achieved results, frankly pointed out the shortcomings, difficulties and obstacles in the coordination of drug prevention and control work in the past time, and at the same time forecasted and assessed the trends and developments of drug-related crimes in the coming time to have effective prevention solutions.
