Wild jasmine, also known as wild jasmine or water jasmine, is a species of plant endemic to the highlands of Da Nang and Quang Nam. The plant often grows along streams, next to large rocks, with a wide canopy casting shade over the water.
Along National Highway 14G, from Hoa Phu Commune (Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City) towards Ba and Tu Communes (Dong Giang District, Quang Nam Province), many tourists are surprised to see along both sides of the stream, wild rì trees over 5m high blooming with bright yellow flowers.
Stopping the car and walking closer to the colorful flower trees, visitors can easily see the wild rì flower petals gently falling into the water, drifting like a lantern festival in the middle of wild nature.
The flowers are bright yellow when they first bloom, then gradually turn orange-yellow and then brick red. The beauty of the flowers is partly due to the fact that the plants bloom early or late, so the two sides of the stream have different “tones” of color that look very lively.

According to local people, the flowers usually bloom from March to April every year. The characteristic of the forest rì tree is that the branches are densely covered with long leaves growing opposite each other. When the flowers bloom, thousands of flowers grow in brilliant clusters.
Wild ivy does not grow close together, but usually grows singly or in clusters of 2-3 trees, scattered throughout the streams.
During the blooming season, not only tourists but also flocks of wild butterflies flock here, creating a poetic scene. Many people compare wild rì flowers to the "soul" of the mountains and forests west of Da Nang, captivating many visitors.
Traveling with friends to Than Tai Mountain (Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City), a foreign tourist said: “When I came to Da Nang, I was especially impressed with the natural scenery here. Along the way, I was attracted by the beautiful yellow flowers by the stream. This trip will be a wonderful memory for us.”
The rì rung tree is a tree with extraordinary vitality. In the mountains, from September onwards, there is often heavy rain, the rivers and streams become more fierce.
However, the rì tree growing from the rock cavity still withstands the torrential flow of the rainy season, waiting for the warm sunny day when the tree blooms brilliantly, decorating the majestic mountains and forests west of Da Nang.
