On September 24, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzya said that the Ukrainian army is on the brink of complete defeat in the conflict, which is now in its third year.

Sputnik news agency quoted Ambassador Nebenzya's statement at the UN Security Council meeting that Ukraine has an abundant supply of weapons, including long-range weapons, intelligence, mercenaries and foreign military instructors.
According to him, in fact, the West has also directly participated in the conflict with the aim of "causing a strategic defeat for Russia at the cost of Ukrainian lives".
However, citing military reports stating that the Eastern European country's defense line, which took nearly eight years to build, is rapidly collapsing, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN affirmed: "The Ukrainian army is currently on the brink of complete defeat."
The Russian diplomat advised Kiev to accept “as quickly as possible” proposals for resolving the crisis that have long-term significance and not fall into unrealistic “victory schemes.”
Affirming that Moscow has always been ready to live in peace with Ukraine until the country plans to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mr. Nebenzya emphasized: "We have always respected the Ukrainian people, they are a brotherly people who are connected to us by inseparable historical ties."
Meanwhile, Western countries are still looking to strongly support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
During meetings at the UN General Assembly, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urged NATO leaders to support lifting restrictions on long-range weapons for Ukraine, which Russia warned would make the military alliance a party to the conflict, Global News reported.
On the same day, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that President Joe Biden plans to discuss the possibility of Washington's weapons strikes deep into Russian territory when he meets his Ukrainian counterpart Zelensky at the White House on September 26.
Previously, TASS news agency quoted a US official confirming that the country would include cluster bombs in a new military aid package worth 375 million USD for Kiev.
On the British side, although refusing to confirm whether it would allow Kiev to use long-range precision weapons provided by London to strike deep inside Russia, Foreign Secretary David Lammy said he was working to help Ukraine have the "strongest position" in the conflict with Russia before winter comes.
