“The firing of ballistic missiles is the final element of state tests, after which a decision will be made on accepting the cruiser into the Navy,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app.

President Vladimir Putin has pushed Russia to maintain its nuclear deterrent to counter what he calls growing security threats, as relations between Moscow and the West have hit a new low following the fighting Russia launched in Ukraine in 2022.
The intercontinental ballistic missile, launched from an underwater position in the White Sea off Russia’s northern coast, hit its target thousands of kilometers away on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East. The Russian Defense Ministry did not say when the test took place.
The Borei-class strategic missile cruiser is equipped with 16 Bulava missiles and modern torpedo weapons. Putin attended a launching ceremony for the Imperator Alexander III in December, the state-run TASS news agency reported.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the country's Navy has three Borei-class nuclear-powered submarines in service.
The 12-meter-long Bulava missile, with an estimated range of about 8,000 km and capable of carrying up to six nuclear warheads, has become the 'cornerstone' of the Russian navy's nuclear triad.
