According to the report of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Soc Trang province, in the period of 2021 - 2024, Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in Soc Trang province have directed the implementation and implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on ethnic affairs and ethnic policies in the province. From the resources of the Program, Soc Trang province has integrated investment, upgrading and renewing the socio-economic infrastructure of ethnic minority areas. Thanks to that, up to now, 100% of communes have car roads to the center, over 99% of ethnic minority households have access to the national grid, the rate of households using clean water has reached 99.65%. In addition, Soc Trang province is also making positive changes in supporting job conversion among ethnic minorities.
Therefore, when implementing Project 1 of the National Target Program 1719, the Fatherland Front at all levels has coordinated with Party committees, authorities and member organizations to raise awareness of policies to support career conversion. In addition, the Fatherland Front at all levels also participates in monitoring the implementation of policies, ensuring that capital sources and support policies are allocated for the right purposes, achieving the highest efficiency to improve the lives and develop the economy for ethnic minorities.
Therefore, since implementing the National Target Program 1719, Soc Trang province has achieved many outstanding results. In Long Phu district, with the characteristic of being a district with nearly 30% of the population being Khmer people. Implementing the National Target Program 1719, from 2022 to present, Long Phu district has built 49 houses, supported job conversion for more than 200 households, and supported distributed domestic water for 65 poor Khmer households. According to Mr. Thach Hoang Tha - Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Long Phu district, the National Target Program 1719, phase 2021 - 2025 has been implemented throughout the district with a total budget of nearly 66 billion VND.
“Thanks to the attention and drastic participation of Party committees and authorities at all levels in implementing the National Target Program 1719, up to now, the essential infrastructure serving production and life in the area with a large number of ethnic minorities in Long Phu district has been gradually completed, the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people has been improved. This is the premise and driving force for the locality to develop its socio-economy and sustainably reduce poverty in the following years,” said Mr. Tha.
Evaluating the effectiveness of the National Target Program 1719 being implemented in the province, Mr. Tran Van Lau - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, concurrently Head of the Steering Committee for National Target Programs of Soc Trang province for the period 2021-2025, said that to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the Program, localities in the province will continue to strengthen and innovate in communication work, aiming to raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members, union members, association members and the whole society on sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security, especially for ethnic minorities. In addition, households need to be proactive and strive in labor and production to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.
Support policies from the National Target Program 1719 have been implemented promptly and to the right target. Thereby, contributing to fostering the trust of ethnic minorities in the leadership of the Party and State, serving as a "lever" to promote socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas in the province.
