Instead of going to stores to shop for Tet like before, this year, Pham Thi Ngoc Huyen (20 years old, Vinh Phuc) chose to shop online to save time and have more options.
“With just one device connected to the Internet, I can buy everything on shopping apps and not have to travel to many places” - Ngoc Huyen shared.
Besides, Ngoc Huyen believes that online shopping also helps you compare prices and quality between stores, thereby making a decision that is right for you.
With a high demand for shopping and giving gifts, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong (45 years old, Tay Ho) always chooses to shop online every time Tet approaches because of the convenience and speed of this method.
“I bought Tet gifts online to give to family and friends who live far away. I just need to pay in advance and they will deliver them to my door, which is quite convenient,” said Ms. Huong.
However, Ms. Huong believes that online shopping also has many potential risks such as buying fake or counterfeit goods or products that do not match the description. After buying poor quality products several times, Ms. Huong has become more careful when ordering online.
“After many times of buying poor quality products, I chose to buy from acquaintances or buy at reputable stores with high reviews,” Ms. Huong shared.
Ms. Tran Phuong Thao, owner of a fashion store in Hoan Kiem district, said that her store has been combining online and offline sales for over a year now to keep up with trends. Since combining sales on multiple platforms, her store's new models have attracted a large, stable number of customers.
“Since selling online, my store has attracted more regular customers, the amount of goods sold has doubled compared to before, and even tripled during the Tet holiday,” said Ms. Thao.
With the increasing number of customers, her store had to hire 5 more employees to advise customers, pack goods and classify items in the warehouse.
"My store has to hire more employees to serve people, especially on holidays," Ms. Thao shared.
According to the report on e-commerce recently released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2023, with 74% of the population using the internet, Vietnam will have about 59 - 62 million online shoppers and the shopping value per person is estimated at about 300-320 USD. This figure in 2022 is 288 USD.
It can be seen that over the past years, Vietnam's e-commerce has always maintained a growth rate of 16-30%, expected to reach 20.5 billion USD this year.
