VATM sets record of safely operating more than 25,000 flights during Tet At Ty 2025

During the Lunar New Year 2025, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) safely operated more than 25,000 flights, including a record 3,005 flights in one day.

During the Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 to February 3, 2025, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) safely operated 25,328 flights. Notably, January 25, 2025 (ie 26th of Tet) recorded a record of 3,005 flights, the day with the highest flight operation output during Tet.

Previously, on January 24, 2025 (ie 25th of Tet), Tan Son Nhat Air Traffic Control Station safely operated 1,002 flights taking off and landing at Tan Son Nhat Airport, surpassing the record of 988 flights in 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic). All three peak hours reached the maximum capacity of 48 flights per hour (slot) according to the license granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. This record reflects the continuous efforts of the staff of the Southern Air Traffic Management Company and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation.

Measures to ensure safety and efficiency

According to VATM, units within the Corporation have proactively implemented a series of measures to ensure safety and efficiency in flight operations, especially during the peak period before, during and after Tet. Units have conducted comprehensive inspections of flight equipment systems and maintenance in accordance with regulations to ensure readiness and stability.

100% of the forces in the service supply chain strictly implemented the direction of the General Director and the directive of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam on enhancing flight safety during Tet. The flight service providers also closely coordinated with relevant agencies and units, and coordinated with airlines to monitor and operate detailed flight plans on a daily basis. Air traffic management was implemented to minimize the situation of aircraft having to wait due to overload at airports with high flight density.

The air traffic communication and surveillance system always maintains stable operations, along with close coordination between Air Traffic, Safety - Quality and Security forces to directly and indirectly monitor at flight operations facilities.

National key projects work through Tet

During the Lunar New Year, at the construction sites of key national projects, Project Management Boards and contractors continued to accelerate progress and ensure labor safety at the construction sites. Some items were ahead of schedule compared to the contract; bidding for packages and contractor selection were carried out openly, transparently and in compliance with legal regulations.

Implementing the Prime Minister's direction, VATM has deployed construction throughout Tet for key projects such as Component 2 of the Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City Air Traffic Control Center Project. On the 4th day of Tet, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and inspected the Long Thanh Project construction site, praising the efforts of ministries, branches, agencies, and units participating in the project.

Project progress

Up to now, the Component 2 Project of Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 has completed the construction of the Air Traffic Control Tower reaching a height of 107.88 meters out of a total height of 123 meters. The information, navigation and monitoring works are being urgently completed, with the construction progress reaching about 80%. The main specialized equipment packages have had contractor selection results and contracts signed, meeting the overall progress of the project.

The Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center project is also in the stage of completing auxiliary works and installing construction equipment, in order to complete the workload as committed by the contractor.

Accelerate and make a breakthrough: Speed ​​up the completion of key projects such as Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Chi Minh Air Traffic Control Center.

Streamlining the apparatus: Arrange the workforce and organize the apparatus in a lean, strong and efficient direction.

Ensuring workers' rights: Improving income, welfare and material and spiritual life for workers.

Proactively enter a new era of development: Build a development plan for the Corporation for the period 2026-2031, focusing on digital transformation, infrastructure and human resource development.
