Mr. Do Van Trung - Cu Pui 2 Primary School and his colleagues often visit students' homes to support their studies and encourage them to attend class.

Encourage children to go to class at the right age.

H9 was an important revolutionary base of Dak Lak province during the resistance war against the US to save the country. Currently, Dak Tuar cave (Cu Pui commune, Krong Bong district) has become a national historical relic, a red address for revolutionary education for future generations.

Nearly 50 years after the liberation day (May 9, 1965), H9, now called Krong Bong, has changed dramatically. The education sector has gradually transformed itself, meeting the requirements of education and training innovation in the spirit of Resolution 29. Regardless of the circumstances, love for students is the driving force for each teacher to choose to stick with and contribute to the land and people here.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thuan - Principal of Cu Pui 2 Primary School (Cu Pui commune) said that despite countless hardships, generations of teachers have remained steadfast in their commitment to the land and people of Cu Pui.

“Every year, to ensure the target of students entering class at the right age, most teachers voluntarily shorten their summer vacation to go through forests and wade through streams to their students’ homes to encourage them to attend class. For remote locations located more than ten kilometers away from the main location, such as Ea Rot village (Heaven’s Gate), many teachers also come in to renovate the rooms and prepare food and accommodation for the students,” Mr. Thuan shared, adding that the 2024-2025 school year will be more favorable because the 3 remote locations have relatively spacious classrooms with solid surrounding fences.

The main campus does not have a fence yet. However, it is still difficult to mobilize students to attend class, especially for children who follow their parents to the fields and do not attend kindergarten at the age of 5. So far, only a few dozen children have registered for first grade at the main campus and 3 separate campuses.

Due to the lack of subject rooms, Hoa Phong Secondary School is flexible in using rooms to teach STEM subjects.

However, Mr. Thuan and the team here, with their love for the profession and children, still believe that they will complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.

Similarly, Mr. Vu Dinh Tung - Principal of Yang Mao Primary School (Yang Mao Commune) confided that in previous years, the rate of students attending class at the right age was only 95% - 98%. However, thanks to applying many solutions, in the 2023 - 2024 school year, the school has mobilized 100% of students to attend class. Next school year, the school will enroll more than 100 students for all 3 satellite locations and the main location.

“In addition to the enthusiasm and dynamism of the teachers, the school also coordinates with village elders, village chiefs, youth union branches, women's unions, etc. to propagate and mobilize people. Thanks to the combined strength of the grassroots political system, the work of mobilizing students to attend class at the right age has achieved the expected results,” said Mr. Tung, affirming that this school year, we will strive to achieve 100%.

Determined to exceed the target of building a standard school

Mr. Huynh Viet Trung - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Krong Bong shared that despite receiving investment attention from many sources, Krong Bong is still a poor district. Entering the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire education and training sector is required to make more efforts in teaching and learning.

“During the summer, we actively worked, consulted with the District People's Committee, coordinated with departments, offices, localities and schools to review facilities, classrooms, fences, teaching equipment, playgrounds, training grounds, and staff. The goal is to ensure that 100% of schools focus on teaching and learning when entering the new school year,” said Mr. Trung.

One of the political resolutions agreed upon by the locality and the education sector is to increase the target of building schools that meet national standards. Accordingly, in the coming school year, the resolution of Krong Bong district assigns the construction of 2 more schools. However, after reviewing, the education sector is determined to build 4 standard schools, including: 2 secondary schools, Hoa Phong and Dang Kang; Yang Mao Primary School and Mang Non Kindergarten.

At Hoa Phong Secondary School (Hoa Phong commune), during the summer, the district Department of Education and Training came to evaluate for the first time, basically reaching level 2 of inspection and continuing to complete the documents to prepare for recognition of meeting level 1 standards.

According to Principal Nguyen Van Nhan, next school year, Hoa Phong Secondary School will have 743 students with 19 classes (an increase of 1). Currently, 100% of teachers have participated in training on grade 9 textbooks, classrooms, and basic teaching equipment.

However, to meet national standards, Mr. Nhan pointed out some difficulties that need to be overcome, such as: Compared to the assigned staff, there is currently a shortage of 2 teachers (37/39). There is a 38m fence that is not guaranteed. The physical education area is not synchronized. There are no subject classrooms, the current solution is to use cultural classrooms to teach subjects. "Thus, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, subject classrooms do not meet standards," Mr. Nhan worried.

Meanwhile, teacher Vu Dinh Tung is concerned that the three separate locations of Yang Mao Primary School lack a surrounding fence system and the sanitation facilities are not guaranteed.

“For example, the remote location in Buon Ea Cho, which is located on a high hill, is being planned by the Commune People's Committee to be converted into a kindergarten, so this new school year, there is no investment in building facilities. Currently, this location lacks both clean water and toilets. At the main location, there are no subject classrooms or functional rooms. Another difficulty is that the teacher/class ratio is still lacking, currently only 1.36 teachers/class, while the regulation is 1.5 teachers/class,” said Mr. Tung.

In order to overcome the above difficulties, Mr. Huynh Viet Trung affirmed that the District People's Committee has given strong direction, the Department of Education and Training will join hands to implement the 2024-2025 school year plan, including the task of building a school that meets national standards.

Regarding the staff, the Department of Education and Training has coordinated with the Department of Internal Affairs and schools to develop a plan to arrange teachers to teach 100% of subjects and have enough hours at primary schools. As for secondary schools, there are local surpluses and shortages in some schools. Therefore, during the summer, the department will conduct a review to make reasonable adjustments, ensuring good teaching and learning in the 2024-2025 school year.

According to statistics, the entire education and training sector of Krong Bong district currently has 25/51 schools meeting national standards, accounting for 49.02%. The rate of solid classrooms is 612/759, accounting for 80.63%.

The district has 1,489 cadres, teachers and employees. Compared to the assigned staff, the district is still short of 60 preschool teachers and 30 primary school teachers.
