The theme for World Tuberculosis Day 2025 is: "Yes! We can end TB: Commit, Invest, Act".

On the morning of March 18, at the press conference of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, Head of the National Tuberculosis Control Program Executive Board, informed about World Tuberculosis Day (March 24) in 2025 and Vietnam's commitment on this issue.

According to Dr. Dinh Van Luong, on World Tuberculosis Day 2025, Vietnam will take the theme "Vietnam commits, invests, and acts to end tuberculosis", which is an affirmation of the highest level of commitment, investment, and action in tuberculosis prevention.

Through assessment, in 2024, the National Tuberculosis Control Program achieved the best results ever, with more than 113,000 TB patients detected (an increase of 7% compared to 2023), the rate of TB with bacterial evidence was over 72%, and the successful treatment rate reached 89% (higher than the global rate - 88%).

However, the tuberculosis epidemic in our country is still very serious. The World Health Organization estimates that Vietnam has about 182,000 new tuberculosis patients, 9,900 drug-resistant tuberculosis patients and about 11,000 people die from tuberculosis each year. Notably, Vietnam ranks 12th out of 30 countries with the highest tuberculosis burden in the world and ranks 10th out of 30 countries with the highest number of drug-resistant tuberculosis patients globally.

Therefore, in 2025, in addition to continuing to promote tuberculosis prevention solutions; expanding and enhancing proactive tuberculosis detection and treatment associated with grassroots healthcare nationwide, Vietnam will develop a national tuberculosis prevention strategy plan for the period 2026-2030.
