Huge scale

The event took place at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) with the participation of nearly 200 doctors and medical staff from the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, with the support of 150 volunteers who are employees and agents of Manulife.

Here, Manulife continues to coordinate with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to organize free medical examinations for more than 3,000 people in the capital who are soldiers, demobilized soldiers, students, youth union members and local laborers.

Dr. Doan Van Viet - Director of Hoan Kiem District Medical Center - said: " The Live Healthy Every Day event is one of the few large-scale community health examination programs organized in Hanoi in 2024.

Manulife’s partnership with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association to bring this program to the capital shows a thorough understanding of the local community health situation, and its realization through practical events. Through the program, businesses and the Young Physicians Association contribute to the locality in solving the problem of improving community health, thereby reducing the cost burden for patients and the local health system .”

With the above "huge" scale, Manulife and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association added a series of medical equipment to best serve the community.

In addition to routine medical examinations such as general internal medicine, cardiovascular, diabetes, respiratory, ENT examinations; ultrasound, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, osteoporosis measurement; blood sugar, blood lipid, uric acid tests for gout patients, people are also tested for Helicobacter Pylori (HP) bacteria through blood and screened for stomach cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer as prescribed by the doctor.

Fulfilling our commitment to investing in the community

Sharing about the scale upgrade of the “Healthy Living Every Day” festival in Hanoi, Ms. Tina Nguyen – General Director of Manulife Vietnam – said: “ Hanoi is one of the most populous cities in the country. We want to bring more opportunities for the people of the capital to check their health status.

Through this, Manulife wishes to fulfill its commitment to investing in the community and hopes to contribute to the city in raising people's awareness of health, for a healthier life every day ."

Aiming to provide free health check-ups for more than 10,000 people in 6 cities and provinces, the “Healthy Living Every Day” festival series has reached more than half way. After 2 weeks of providing health check-ups for more than 4,600 people in 4 cities and provinces: Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Da Nang, the program has helped many people promptly detect medical conditions, especially diseases related to the digestive tract.

Specifically, according to statistics from the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, the medical examination team discovered 973 cases positive for HP bacteria - one of the main causes of stomach ulcers and stomach cancer.

In addition, 1,585 people were found to have dyslipidemia (33%), 963 people with abnormal blood pressure were re-examined with an electrocardiogram (20%), 721 people were examined with signs of fasting blood sugar disorder (15%), 111 people had uric acid disorder (0.2%) and many other diseases. The results of this community health examination helped many people have timely and appropriate treatment plans.

Right after the event in Hanoi, an event of similar scale, 3,000 people, will be organized by Manulife in Ho Chi Minh City in mid-December, with the goal of contributing to Ho Chi Minh City in improving community health.

The “Healthy Living Every Day” festival series is an activity throughout the “Live – Clean – Smart – Green” community program. In phase I, the program was held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In phase II, in addition to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Manulife expanded the program to Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Da Nang.

This series of free health check-up programs and efforts to spread healthy lifestyles in the community helped Manulife Vietnam be honored as "Top 40 Outstanding Enterprises in Connecting Business Goals and Social Responsibility" at the Saigon Times CSR 2024 honor ceremony organized by Saigon Economic Magazine last November.
