Why the 'Little House on the Prairie' remake received a wave of protests

Most of the objections came from fans of the original, who felt that the new Little House on the Prairie would never be able to match the original, which left viewers with so many memories.

Faced with this, recently, the two main actors of the old film, Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim, spoke up to calm public opinion and firmly believe that this new project will not tarnish the legacy of the much-loved 1974 TV series.

In an interview with Remind , Arngrim—who played Nellie Oleson in the original—said she's heard both support and criticism as the new project nears its launch. "I hear two camps of people saying, 'Oh my gosh. They've remade it. It's the best thing that's ever happened,' and then there's people who say, 'The original was perfect, so let's not do it.'"

Original series by Laura Wilder

According to Arngrim, the upcoming series will not be the same as the previous one, but will be more faithful to the original book series by Laura Wilder. She also hopes that her revelation will ease any concerns, especially for die-hard fans of the franchise.

Butler, who played Almanzo in the original series, shared a similar reaction, saying the upcoming version won't attempt to recreate Michael Landon's work, but instead will deliver a truly "different" experience for modern audiences.

"There's no way to replicate what Michael did exactly," he elaborated. "Michael is Michael. He's a creative force and he brought this timeless series to life. And I'm confident the next team will have the same impact."

Arngrim also revealed that none of the original cast members will be returning for the new season, but she said she would be open to guest appearances. "I've been joking for years that as a young girl, I would love to play Mrs. Oleson."
