"Hang Tan" Festival in Tra Linh town

On March 13, the People's Committee of Tra Linh town (Trung Khanh) organized the "Hang Tan" Festival and the 2025 Sports Festival, attracting a large number of local people and people from neighboring areas to participate.

The “Hang Tan” festival originates from the Nong Thong Lang Temple festival, a long-standing traditional festival of the locality, with the purpose of praying for favorable weather, bountiful crops, and favorable business in the new year. Previously, the festival was usually held on the 9th day of the 3rd lunar month every year, later it was held on the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month, coinciding with the worship ceremony (also known as the honey-praying ceremony). Up to now, the festival is held on the same day as the local market.

This year's festival consists of two parts: The ceremony is held before the opening ceremony with an incense offering ceremony at Nong Thong Lang Temple, with agricultural products made by local people, each product has its own unique features and profound humanistic meaning. The festival includes activities such as: performing cultural exchanges between hamlets, residential groups, communes, and towns with special performances praising love for the homeland, country, national pride, folk songs such as hat luon, da hai, put lan; space to display and introduce culture, cuisine, and local products; 300 people performing folk dances; competing in attractive folk games such as: throwing con, tug of war, weeding, pushing sticks...

In addition to the festival, there is a sports festival with competitions such as football, pickleball, chess, etc., attracting a large number of local people. In addition, when coming to the festival, people and tourists also have the opportunity to enjoy special dishes with unique flavors of ethnic groups such as roast duck, roast pork, and cakes made by local people.

The festival is an opportunity for people to meet, exchange experiences in raising livestock, growing crops, and cultural and artistic exchanges between ethnic groups in the district; contributing to preserving, promoting and honoring cultural values, strengthening solidarity, and improving the material and spiritual life of the people. Thereby, promoting and introducing the land and people of Cao Bang to friends near and far.
