2024 is the year of acceleration, striving to "finish early" the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress and the 13th National Party Congress in the context of the world economic and political situation continuing to develop complicatedly and unpredictably, negatively affecting the socio-economic development of Long An province and the whole country.
In such difficult and challenging conditions, implementing Uncle Ho's teachings with the spirit of "A good doctor must be like a mother", the provincial health sector has unanimously, made efforts, strived, and determined to synchronously implement the set goals, tasks, and solutions and achieved positive results. The work of medical examination, treatment, protection, care, and improvement of people's health continues to be well implemented at all levels, strictly implementing regulations on spirit, attitude, and responsibility to serve people in medical examination and treatment facilities.
The provincial health sector seriously implements tasks according to plan, ensures progress and completes assigned targets, contributing to the goal of ensuring socio-economic development of the province. Continue to maintain, consolidate and improve the quality of treatment of medical facilities, ensure human and material resources, enhance training, consultation, remote treatment consultation, ensure smooth and timely referral.
Up to now, the whole province has 27 public health units at provincial and district levels and 186 commune-level health stations with about 5,000 cadres, civil servants and public employees; there are 5 private general hospitals and more than 1,000 other private medical examination and treatment facilities.
Medical facilities operating with the motto "Taking the patient as the center" have brought satisfaction to patients when they come for examination, basically meeting the needs of medical examination and treatment for the people. In addition, the health sector pays attention to implementing preventive medicine, strictly controlling epidemics; implementing work to ensure food security and safety. Health care for mothers and children, reproductive health, and family planning are effectively implemented.
The targets set for 2024 in the health sector achieved results according to the targets assigned in Resolution No. 76-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee and the plan of the Provincial People's Committee; in which, doctors/10,000 people reached 9.5, people participating in health insurance reached 94% (plan 94%), malnutrition in children under 5 years old (height by age) reached 17.2% (plan 17.2%).
Faced with difficulties in human resources, over the past year, the province has implemented synchronous solutions on training and attracting human resources for the health sector, establishing and putting into operation Long An Medical College on the basis of Long An Medical College (training scale of 80-100 students in the 2024-2025 school year). These efforts have contributed to resolving difficulties and obstacles in human resources for the health sector of the province in the coming time.
The above results were achieved thanks to the attention, leadership, and drastic and close direction of the Ministry of Health, Party committees and authorities at all levels, the coordination of local departments and branches, the consensus, joint efforts, and efforts of leaders, cadres, civil servants, and public employees of the provincial health sector. 2025 is a decisive year in leading the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress; the year of organizing Party congresses at all levels, towards the 12th Provincial Party Congress and the 14th National Congress of the Party; the year of many important political events; and the year of simultaneously implementing "two revolutions" in streamlining the organization and apparatus of the political system and "Promoting the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation".
Along with the whole country, our province is facing opportunities to rise up, but the challenges are also enormous. Accordingly, the provincial health sector needs to closely follow and strictly implement the policies of the Party and the State, strive to complete the tasks and targets set out in Resolution No. 101-NQ/TU, dated December 6, 2024 of the Provincial Party Committee on the direction and tasks for 2025, which has identified targets and tasks in the health sector. That is, 95% of people participate in health insurance; 10 doctors/10,000 people; stunting in children under 5 years old (by height) reaches below 17.1%. Implement solutions to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, overcome hospital overload. Strengthen the capacity to prevent and control epidemics associated with innovation in grassroots health care; promote the implementation of universal health insurance, food safety;...
Improve population quality, ensure reasonable population growth and gender balance at birth . Pay attention to investing in modern medical facilities and equipment; focus on developing high-tech medical services; promote autonomy in hospital operations. Diversify investment resources, develop non-public health, promote public-private partnership, focus on linking and cooperating with reputable and quality hospitals and upper-level medical facilities. Develop traditional medicine combined with modern medicine. Improve medical ethics and management capacity, continue to implement and research appropriate policies and regimes to attract human resources to develop the province's health sector.
It is forecasted that 2025 will still face many difficulties and challenges, the political, socio-economic and epidemic situations will develop unpredictably; the requirements and tasks set for the health sector are very large, but with the motto "Putting people's health and lives first and foremost", we believe that the provincial health sector will continue to unite, join hands, and be unanimous, promote good traditions and achieved results, strive to excellently complete the task of protecting, caring for and improving people's health, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development goals, worthy of being the people's physician as President Ho Chi Minh taught: "A good physician must be like a mother" - the most noble medical ethics of a physician./.
