This is the data given at the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Kon Tum Province in 2024, organized by the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee on October 11.
According to the report at the Congress, Kon Tum is a locality with 83 communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas (50 communes in extremely difficult circumstances, border areas, and safe zones); 498 hamlets (villages) in ethnic minority areas. The lives of people in ethnic minority areas still face many difficulties, especially in remote, isolated, and border areas.
In recent years, the implementation of policies, programs and projects for ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Kon Tum province has achieved important results, contributing to the renewal of rural areas and improving the lives of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

From 2016 to present, the total mobilized capital for investment in ethnic minority areas in the province is 112,579 billion VND; invested in new, repaired, and maintained 1,162 works; supported plants, breeds, livestock barns, machinery, equipment, and labor tools; built production development models; supported capacity improvement and production level for poor, near-poor, newly escaped-poverty households, and ethnic minority households with very few people.
Up to now, 15,343 poor and near-poor households of ethnic minorities (accounting for over 74.61%) have changed their way of thinking, no longer relying on the support and assistance of the State, and have risen up to escape poverty by their own strength. Many villages have gradually abandoned inappropriate customs and practices, superstitions that affect the economy, health and environment, etc.
In addition, to preserve and promote the heritage of gong cultural space, Kon Tum province has supported 137 sets of gongs for 137 hamlets, organized gong and xoang classes in ethnic minority communities in the province with a budget of more than 4.3 billion VND.
It can be seen that the focus on synchronous implementation and maximum mobilization of investment resources to effectively integrate the implementation of policies, programs and projects together with solidarity, efforts to compete and strive to rise up. Thereby, the lives of ethnic minorities are improved, traditional culture is gradually renewed, preserved and promoted, politics is maintained, security - national defense, social order and safety are ensured.
Speaking at the Congress, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People's Council Duong Van Trang affirmed: After 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Congress - 2019, the appearance of the ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province has had positive changes. The province's economy has grown year by year, the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, there are more and more models, bright spots, good practices in agricultural and forestry production, eco-tourism models, community tourism, ... contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
